Rattie

Legend
The draw is out. No Djokovic, Khachanov, PCB (defending champ), Shapovalov, or Kyrgios. Raonic received a WC.

Seeds:
1. Carlos Alcaraz
2. Daniil Medvedev
3. Casper Ruud
4. Stef Tsitsipas
5. Holger Rune
6. Andrey Rublev
7. Jannik Sinner
8. Taylor Fritz
9. Frances Tiafoe
10. FAA
11. Cam Norrie
12. Tommy Paul
13. Alexander Zverev
14. Borna Coric
15. Hubie Hurkarz
16. Lorenzo Musetti

I left out Ruud from the poll as he only ever seems to win 250s, and also Rublev as he has only ever won one Masters.

They have Alcaraz, Sinner and Rune all in the same half  Pretty lopsided draw it looks to be

Alcaraz potential path to the final:

1R - Bye
2R - Shelton/Zapata Miralles
3R - Hurkacz
QF - Rune
SF - Tsitsipas/Sinner
F - Medvedev

Very lopsided draw. Carlos, Holger, Sinner and Tsitsipas all drawn in the top half.

Unranked (former Tarheel) Brayden Schnuur hands Cressy yet another defeat. To make matters worse, the Big Franco-American won the first set and was up a break in both the second and the third...

Also providing a major upset was legendary real estate guru Matija Pecotic, who got in at the last second as a double alternate (Watanuki retired so Haase took his spot, then Haase didn't show) and knocked out the slumping Ivashka in straights. The part-time player is now a win away from his first M1000 main draw.

This advertising poster for Toronto seems odd to me. I like Casper as much as anyone, but is he such a big draw in Canada that he dominates the event? Carlos and Holger and supporting players while Ruud is the big name?

Maybe it's because of the slight resemblance to the Supreme Leader Trudeau?

Ivashka is no slouch. That's impressive. Poor cressy. I updated the thread.

I don't think Pecotic has a chance against Arnaldi, and of course I'll be rooting for the Italian, but I'll be happy either way. The "real estate agent" (actually more of a finance wiz) moonlighting as ATP player is truly one of the stories of the year. For those who aren't caught up, here's a few links...

4-4 on serve in the second. Pecotic had a few break points last game. He's hanging with the young Italian.

The real estate agent fought valiantly, but our mini-Djoker is becoming extremely solid and reliable in beating the guys he's supposed to beat. He now has another winnable match in R1 vs old Vasek... fingers crossed.

Today Carlos and Holger played a practice set in Toronto. According to Twitter, Carlos won the set 7-6 (10-8). Rune apparently is ditching the backwards cap look and has been practicising all week with no hat (good!)

Agreed, it's time to ditch the cap and replace it with something like this:

You post endlessly about this guy but still haven't learned how to properly spell his name?...............
Looool!

As for the tournament, just spotted that Schwartzman beat Vukic, the top seed in the qualifying field, and is in the main draw. I'd be surprised if he can make it much further, but have a soft spot for the chap, and hope he can do well here. Others to make it through into the main draw: Giron / Purcell / Kokkinakis / Daniel / Garin / Arnaldi.

I thought Raonic is / was retiring? Will the home favourite FA-A be inspired to improve his form here?

I know the feeling. Little Diego has gone pretty high in the rankings in his career considering he’s only as tall as me! (I’m female though)

As far as Felix, goes, the pressure of the home crowd will go one of two ways. I’ve no idea why he has gone so off the boil this year.

And, what an insightful view of an entire country.
I was mainly referring to the weather, which I consider unfit for human life - much less for outdoor tennis. But don't get me started with the politics...

Other than that, great country! Spent many a month in Sauga, Oakville and the rest of the GTA. Don't tell anyone, but I even saw a pre-teen Justin Bieber perform at Canada's Wonderland...
