I've never been forced to cheer for Raonic before. Bow-legged fool wins the Rafa sweepstakes.

Interesting first round and potential 2nd round matches top half:
Nadal v Raonic (winner plays Holger)
Shapo v Van De Quiter (winner plays Musetti) - a very achievable section for the bow-legged fool, and a rough ride for Rafa who has even lost to Shapo on clay (Rome 2022.)
Pretty easy draw for Holger in that section despite the talent levels and Fognini wild card (Baez 2nd round for Fabio.)

Manny plays winner of Wawrinka-Machac hard to predict.
Medly plays Cobolli possibly 2nd round and then maybe Korda.

Clownfils vs Purcell is box office and winner plays Hubbie.
Sonego vs Kecmanovic competive and then winner gets Norrie and then Hubbie.

Fils vs Borges winner gets Fokina is hard to predict.

Michelson needs to beat Munar to get to Tommy Paul

Djoko draw is boring.

Bottom half:
Arnaldi had great match with Shelton in Acapulco and with slow IW conditions Van Assche match is a barn burner with winner to play a quite rusty Alcaraz and likely FAA awaits this little part of the draw.

If Draper beats O'Connel then it is the mighty Zedzilla.

If Mensik prevails over qualifier, Shelton will have his hands full in the 2nd round.

If playing well Nakashima vs Eubanks winner playing Lehecka is fine, but really these are fast court players.:cautious:

Rublev may retire Murray in the 2nd round.:sneaky:

If Mensik prevails over qualifier, Shelton will have his hands full in the 2nd round.
Mensik v Shelton could be a lot of fun. Still want to see Rune v Shelton, which we were denied last week.

What has happened to Goffin ?? how did he fall so badly ? he's now trying to qualify for indian wells against Cressy
He's had some decent runs lately, so I don't understand why his ranking is so low.

Djokovic has smooth path until semis, Sinner has couple of physical encounters in early rounds . Still expect Novak-Janik final with fresher player to win it.

Djokovic has smooth path until semis,
Umbert won two hard court tournaments in Feb., Ruud won one and made another final as did Tommy Paul in the last month. Hurkacz is always a tough out being the #1 server on tour for both average speed and accuracy. Hardly an easy ride before the semifinal with all these in-form players who have been playing well in the last month. Of course no path looks tough for Djokovic unless he meets others in the top 5 which won’t happen before the semifinal.

You have a point, still I dont expect Novak to lose any sets before semis if his wrist is healthy.

Don't think the results from speedy indoor HC and fast Doha/Dubai HC can translate into IW : beware of court speed / ball type differences ... already some strange/upset results in de qualies : Cazaux losing in two sets and the Serbian Prince Medjedovic totally destroyed by Grenier

He really needs to change his ways if he wants to win a slam or take another step in his career
I believe he's trying, a poster mentioned he appeared way calmer and not looking to his team every single point of the match during play in Acapulco
Really believe that mental stability is the biggest part in becoming a ATG tennis player. Otherwise you stick with ' flash in the pan ' experiences which are really hard to replicate year in, year out

Now this is what I’m talking about. I feel the tennis season once again starts here since Melbourne. We got all the top guys back playing at same time.

Exciting times and hope for some tasty clashes these next couple of weeks. They all looking to find form as we approach the clay season soon.

Pumped for it!

I'd be excited too with the draw you have :p it's giving level 1-1

Nadal is old, I don’t even know why he’s playing. Rune should win but his level is really low
Luckily Nadal doesn't have to worry about being old, because he's playing in a weak era.
It should be obvious why Nadal is playing.
One of his best friends EVER is the owner of Indian Wells.
Nadal literally lives at Larry's house.
So if this is Nadal's last or 2nd last year, of course he'll play for Larry Ellison.

It's nice to have everyone in the same event. What isn't so nice is the return of the bickering between Djokovic and Nadal fans.

I don't mind those other tournaments where we can actually talk about other players for a little while.

Like ANYONE here wants to talk about other players. The entire forum is run by fedal fans making imaginary claims

The Nadal talk will be brief.
