Machine cover?

So apparently Alpha doesn't sell machine covers. (I have the Alpha Axis Pro.)

I seem to be able to buy one from Gamma on amazon, but it seems dumb to put a Gamma cover on an Alpha machine. I'm using a big plastic bag right now but it looks like hell.

Anyone found anything that works well off-label? Or could someone share some up-close photos so maybe I could figure out how to slap something together on my own?

I am not sure anyone other than Gamma sells covers any more--perplexing as keeping the machine free from dust and the like when not in use is a big plus. I still have the cover that came with my Ektelon H but I'm not even sure is successor, the Prince Neos 1000 has a cover anymore. You might want to give JC at Tennis Machines dot com a call and see what he recommends (but covers are not on his website). That said I'd spring for the Gamma cover assuming you cannot live with a plastic bag. You could always make your own out or nylon, buy a big nylon bag or see if you can find a grill cover that might work--but that seems like a lot of work or general dissatisfaction when you can get a Gamma cover that will probably fit your Axis Pro just fine for 30 bucks. Just tell folks that "Gamma Alpha" is a secret stringing society.

Seems the most reasonable solution. I suppose I am still just amazed that these companies don't sell (or, hell, include for free with a machine that costs hundreds of dollars) what seems like such a basic necessity.

Gamma cover it is...

Did you ask Mark? I asked him for one for my Ghost as I didn't have one and he sold me one for $20. BTW the one that fits my ghost doesn't say "Alpha or Ghost" just "STRINGING MACHINE" kinda boring....

I emailed their info address and got this reply:

When did you get your cover?

Maybe 8 months ago? The Ghost comes with a cover....but I bought it 2nd hand and the guy didn't have it. You might call or email Mark, but Greg is the other guy in the Alpha shop.

I got both the gamma and babolat cover for my star 4, the gamma cover is really sturdy and well made. Gamma cover comes with 3 size, and mine is mid-size, and covers the star 4 quite generously.

I use bags that come back with clothes from the dry cleaner. It's a 'don't spend $ mentality.' I tell myself I'm recycling! :D

I went this route and used one of those transparent covers that wraps a new comforter. I cut an opening in one side and it works like a charm. Now if I could only convince the recycling guys to take my scrap string...

I seen a blue 4'x6' plastic cover at Dollar Store for $1. Cut out the four corners, use duct tape / glue to make your own cover.

EDIT: You could use a stencil and logo ink to put any design you wanted on it. Drop some brown painter's paper / newspaper down inside it and you have a nice base to stencil rackets.

EDIT: If you want something fancier use a canvas drop cloth to make a cover. You could sew the corners to make a better presentation.

Also gamma makes three different size covers.
I contacted Gamma to get these specs:
  • ELS cover is about 43” x 18” x13”
  • upright cover is 40” x 18” x 16”
  • Progression cover is 36” x 18” x 13”

Mine that came with the machine did as well. Interesting design alpha went with putting a zipper on one end like it needed to open wider to fit over the machine.
