How many aces in the final ???
The organizers tried to knock Roger out by keeping the court dry against Feli, had the match in the day so Feli could serve Federer out.
In the match against Rafa, they organized for rain, and watered the court, too. Made conditions as slow as possible.
:roll::roll:

They also tried to feed Nole some Cocido Madrileño and to distract him with pretty ballchicks, but his miracle medicine-man saw through that evil plot and was able to protect him.

The French are going a step ahead and mixing fine gluten in the clay of Paris, as well as dusting it on the tennis balls. They will schedule all of Nole's matches in the hottest part of the day. Watch Nole crumble !

Nah, Djokovic's doctor will taste the clay beforehand to check for gluten :)

My sources tell me in Nadal's Rome 1st round match today, Djokovic's witch doctor cast a voodoo disrupting the delicate feng shui of Nadal's two water bottles. Nadal's witch doctor only found out in the second set, and an epic mystical battle ensured between the 2 shamans which Nadal's emerged victor by the end of the 2nd. From then all all was right and Nadal decimated his opponent.

Hmm, actually I saw Toni take a **** in one of the water bottles. It's the secret ingredient in his energy mix.

Congrats to Nole, didn't think he could do it. Epic match from him, Nadal will have to figure him out somehow. This is good for tennis!

I can't believe how wrong I was... Nadal had absolutely no answers against the exhausted King. Imagine what would have happened if they were both in the same physical condition...

What happened? I thought the match thread got locked, but wait a couple minutes, and here it is ......

Nole gave his acceptance speech in Italian.

I don't know why they closed the Rome thread.

neither do I ..... I had a hard time getting into the website, then I saw that the match thread was closed ... now I see it's been deleted  Has that ever happened before? :???:

Why was it deleted?

The thread is still there but you can't post anymore. I don't know...there wasn't any heated exchange from posters or any fighting going on. weird.

Game on for RG :). Very impressive CC season from novak, Nadal has a 2nd contender on clay, and it's now going to come down to RG.

Nadal played a smarter match than last time, he didn't pull himself out of position running around his forehands, got burned a lot less by novak's bh too. Novak also didn't hold on to the baseline as much as in the last match. Nadal played at a high level, some gutsy play on breakpoints just like last time, but again lost in straights. I am sure he realizes that he can't beat novak on this surface without his bh and will probably focus on that in the coming weeks. Looking forward to seeing what's going to happen at RG. :)

He also needs to realize he can't stand that far back. If he's not any closer to the baseline at the French, he won't win. His shots are landing too short and sitting right up for Novak to punish them.

Holmes: Spot on. I noticed this from his first match with Signor Lorenzi and wondered whether this was leading to him dropping shorter balls (ahem). However, he can play closer to the line as we've seen on other surfaces. His switch to grass last year was in a matter of days, and he adjusted very well.

On a separate note Michael Nadal, I'd just say that it's good to see you stick around after the loss yesterday. I'd imagine (as you're quite a fan of Ralph) that it must have been a tough loss to accept, fourth in a row, on clay etc... Anyhow, I tip my hat to you sir:

Even more so, as certain others have truly gone running with their tails between their legs. Mentioning no names of course.

Watson: Of course.

Gentlemen, I'm really enjoying reading your posts.

You two always bring a smile with your witty comments. Thumbs up!

True. First of all his shots land way too short, seem to lack of power behind them. Also his shots totally lack of precision he just pushes them into the middle of the court.
He needs to stop beset Nolitos BH with his strokes, this cant be his gameplan.
He definately needs to move him around better which will benefit him in a best of five setter. He doesnt seem to move that good aswell.

However I think all this is kinda due to his mental issues.

Watson: The feeling is mutual Sir! We noticed that you hadn't posted in a while, but then we saw a post regarding the denial of the Nards... He (Nole) won Indian Wells, he won't win Miami. Ah, he won Miami, he won't Madrid. Ah, he won Madrid... and so on. You were the first here to point out to those in denial that Nole wasn't catching a bus home any time soon. We'll continue keeping our eyes out for your posts, with their undeniable subtle humour.

Holmes: And we're quite envious of that rather splendid avatar of yours. Good show!

Nadal has absolutely no weapons to hurt Djokovic even when he (Nadal) is on. The only thing that he can hope for is to catch lightning in a bottle with his forehand and serve. He has to do more than just hit heavy spin to Djokovic to win; he needs to go all out attack mode and just pray.

seems like a joke post....;)

Oh yes, each loss was a bigger pill to swallow for sure. But 2009 was even worse, and early 2010 with the Roddick match, the Davydenko match, etc. Im not gonna run just bc he's losing. Always enjoy your posts as well.

So tell me what Nadal can do? His crosscourt forehand has been a non-factor in either of their recent claycourt matches. That is Nadal's singular biggest weapon when facing anyone that is right handed.

His down the line forehand simply isn't good enough with that much spin on it. He gives up too much court positioning running around his backhand while also not doing enough with it (similar to how Federer did the same thing against Nadal in the FO 07 final).

Nadal simply has zero weapons to hurt Djokovic with, and that is actually exacerbated by the fact that they are playing on clay. At least on HCs Nadal can hurt Djokovic with his inside out forehand and down the line forehand when he flattens it out. Here on the clay, it is much harder to do that. Nadal simply doesn't have the power to hit through the clay like Djokovic can, and that's why he has been soundly beaten on clay this year, while on the slow HCs he actually stands a chance.

Nadal basically has to go all out with his serve and forehand and just play the type of tennis that people used to have to play against him. Djokovic is a wall that hits back extremely hard. There's no point trying to rally with him; you'll lose 95% of the time.
