Points Scoring Rules: (MUST READ)
If you predict the correct winner but the wrong score in sets, you'll get two points. However, if you also nail the score line in sets, (ie, Nadal beats Murray 2 set to love) you’ll get five points. Each predictor can pick the winner and runner up of the tournament (approximately a day before the FIRST ROUND MATCH)

Come the conclusion of the tournament – ten points will be given to each predictor that predicts BOTH the correct winner and runner up and five points for the one or the other.

If you grasp a sudden urge to change one or more predictions that you may already have posted, please make a new post, so I am aware of the time it was posted and can validate that the prediction was made before the respective match / matches. (Editing posts makes matters complicated)

I'm in and I am not going to be a sentimental fool this time. Also not post exhibition matches while drunk. Incidentally, I've been told my vocabulary improves while intoxicated...

OK, I signed up for Rome and I didn't make any single picks except for the finals since I had exams to study for and I partied last week.

This time I am in it and gonna test my luck

Yes, but how about your sex drive? (I'm sure the dudes here would like to start e-mailing you.) ;)

I am in. Almost defeated Shadows in my maiden effort only to fall apart at the last hurdle and end in a 3 way tie. :(

my plan failed with your refusal of congratulatory drinks, I shall have to find a new way to ensure you post whilst intoxicated =p

What does it mean "of course 3"?

I think :3 is an emoticon.

That'd be the one, just a silly emoticon, (bad) habits are hard to break!

Thanks! I'm too superstitious to do predictions but I enjoy reading other people's every day!

aww, you should join in roni! It's almost a good way to cure watching guys like Safin, you predict against them and cheer for them, either way, you end up with something to be happy about heh!

I would like to try this, but I'm afraid my heart will override my brain.

Join in the fun! And don't worry about heart over brain, I think each time I've had Tsonga down to win further than he's gone lol

An Indoor/Outdoor thing. It should be interesting. And I'm sure I'll be able to do the scoring starting Monday. As long as they don't start the matches on Sunday...

Cool.

Thats great, appreciate all the hard effort your putting in, can't wait till this tournament gets under way, i need to win this one in order to have any hope of finishing first come the end of the season.

Winner : Nadal
Runner-Up: Federer

If this clay is like they say it is (similar to Hamburg) Fed could potentially challenge Nadal on this.

With the draw the way it is, I really hope this happens:

W: Nadal
RU: Federer

(The reverse is preferred.)

So everyone thinks Nadal is gonna win the 4 events leading to RG including 3 masters?
Guys, that's impossible, I don't think it's ever been done...

Well this one will be the one he is most vunerable at and had it been another year I would of picked Fed especially with this clay similar to Hamburg where Fed has 4 MS titles but its just too hard to predict what Fed is going to be like these days. Plus no one wants to take a risk and pick Fed or Djok to win it (Can't see anyone else going to beat Nadal) as if they are wrong nearly everyone gains 5 points on them.

though I do think there's a decent chance that nole could be the finalist from that side as well.

I had a hard time picking Nadal, but I had a harder time not picking Nadal. :)

I know, Rafa is a specialist at doing impossible things! However I would expect him to not want to exert himself too much right before RG. On paper his draw doesn't look easy. I could see him losing in the quarters to Verdasco/Ferrer or in the semi to Djoko.
I'm worried if he doesn't lose in Madrid, he will be a little spent for RG. It's gonna all depend if he cruises through his draw or if he has a few difficult matches. He shouldn't push himself too much in Madrid IMO.

OK, I understand the point strategy.

It's funny how of the 10 Spaniards, eight are in Rafa's quarter!

I think he'll be fine for RG even if he wins, but the later tournaments will be hard. It's crazy to think that he's the defending champ at the next five tournys with Hamburg, RG, Queens, Wimbledon, and Toronto.

Queens is not very important, it's a 250, he only needs it for match practise. I think even last year Rafa was extremely surprised at winning it! If there is 1 title to give up in that list, that's the one for sure! I think he should also give up Hamburg now that it's a 500 and focus all his attention on hard court after Wimby (unless he loses early at Wimby in which case he should play it for confidence)

He's not participating in Hamburg which is very good. I think of Rafa's as the defending champion this week just because he'll be the one defending a 1000 points here while Murray won't defend his Madrid points until Shanghai.

Queens is definitely the least important. Toronto isn't that important either in the grand scheme of things.

I don't get the ranking the thread stuff at all. It's so silly. Don't understand why anyone would give one star to a thread like this anyways.
