Nobody's doubting you about Miami
Oh no not that, I posted about Miami in early March and people criticized me

Here's some highlights:

Meanwhile, there are 174,074 laboratory confirmed cases of Influenza in the United States since September 29th, 2019. Over 1,000 have died of the flu in the US in just the past 3 weeks. (Source: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/)

Coronavirus is a concern, but still not the most likely virulent illness to get you this year anywhere.
Monfils AND Svitolina leaving USA heading to France.

And Miami HASN'T officially been cancelled yet? Man, America and these tournaments could not be handling this worse
^^^ Please. What do you want? Cancel everything without forethought? If we just banned everything left and right the whole country and economy will grind to a halt. They wanted to keep the tournament in play if they could. I see no problem in that. The recent travel ban was posted today.

What it tells us?
Source?

I have heard this about every tourney and heard the opposite about every tourney as well.

If the USO can wait til the last second (sounds like they are) to make a decision. Madrid which is weeks after and much smaller tourney should have plenty of time to change their minds multiple times.

Now it makes even more sense for Rafa to play Cincy, he knows he won't be playing the week after US Open, so no need to save energy.

Not surprising. It’s starting to spike in Spain again.
I honestly don’t think there should be any tennis this year. I miss it but I want it to return in better circumstances and when things are more safe again. This virus isn’t going anyway and currently the world is recording more cases in a day than they did since the pandemic started.
But its very hard for the players to catch the virus, since they won't be signing autographs.....
And no linesman and no ball kids and no parties.....so I don't think we'll see a big problem when tennis resumes.

That is true I guess. In that sense tennis is safer than football. It’s more the travel from different countries into the a part of the country that’s the worry. Once they there though and hopefully all test negative when tested then it shouldn’t be as much an issue playing matches behind closed doors. Well we will see I guess.

Incredible from Murray, leads Nadal 3-1 H2H in Madrid, brilliant stat
Verdasco took out The Nadal in an early round match marred by much complaining from the favorite that TD Tiriac did not want “the good tennis” when he decided to once again use the blue clay. This upset paved the way for Murray to win again in Madrid and then announce his retirement after achieving the Madrid 3-surface trifecta...HC indoor, red clay and blue clay titles prove he is an ATG.

That is not a description of sampling my statistician friends.

Pass peer review it would not for the conclusion you are making.

Let me ask it this way: is death toll the only variable by which a country can be judged? All countries with high death tolls did terrible? All low death-toll countries have good policy? If you say yes, we can agree to disagree.

I assume you will reply with "well, that's the most important one." This is a reasonable response, but does not justify your conclusion.

Victoria has conducted 1.63M tests to date with a 0.7% positivity rate (source)
Tennessee has conducted 1.56M tests to date with a 7.4% positivity rate (source)

Also consider that there have been 208 deaths in the whole of Australia vs 1,073 in TN alone
Does Tennessee use the same protocol to rate cases the same way that Texas now does?
In Texas all probable cases (ie. contacts of CV+ people) are considered positive (cases) !!!

Yep, it's apparently a done deal, now. Madrid out--and Rome with no 'non-quarantine' deal, which means it wouldn't get any top player unless things get resolved soon.

The plot thickens. Or does it?
