Inspired by @RF-18 thread after the will of steel that Novak showed in Rome, taking many of us, including me on one of the craziest rides we've had in a long time in the tennis world.

"All the hopes and dreams of Krypton live in you now."
"I'm so proud of you, son."
"Your mother and I loved you."
"Your mother and I knew you would change the world."
"Your heart was tested."
"I know it's been hard, Novak."
"But you gave hope to their world."
"You need to show them who you are."
"Love them, Novak. The way we loved you."
"Fly, son. It's time."

Looking forward to the next crazy ride!

He lost the match. This this kind of shameless propaganda isn't neccesary to prop Novak up. Allow Rafa his moment. We all know Djokovic is a great player. Wait for him to win a title or score a great win against Nadal again to do this sort of thing. Trust me, it'll happen.

Dude, I am a Djokovic fan and very happy with the way he showed heart and will out there this week. What is wrong with celebrating that with those that appreciate it also? Don't be so insecure, this is not taking anything away from Rafa, but Rome wasn't just the Rafa show.

If Rafa fans made threads after AO 2012 showing how much Nadal fought and took Djokovic to the brink, I would not come into their thread and tell them they cannot have a moment to celebrate and appreciate it. This forum is for all fans, let everyone celebrate who they want and how they want, as along it is not insulting another player. And this is not insult to Nadal, this is appreciation of 8 hours of Djokovic leaving it all out there.

Losing isn't always a bad thing when you perform better than what was expected of you, you know.

Like, just let it be. Or should we vacate this place because Rafa needs his moment? Massive respect to Rafa, deserved winner, which I have already stated several times here, but it wasn't just Rafa that entertained many of last week.

Clay matches during 2011-2014 were exciting and thrilling to watch .

I am just happy Novak is back to that level wherein he can make it competitive versus Nadal on clay .
Would be eager to see a hard-fought battle at RG .
If they meet in the final , it would be fun to watch ! :giggle:

You do know that, er, Nole lost, right? Surely Nadal is the man of steel and should be getting the props here.

We are impressed with Djokovic's tennis in Rome despite the loss to Nadal, lol.

Deal with it.

And Rocky lost to Apollo Creed, yet everyone understands and respects what story was being told, and why that won Best Picture. Novak left it all out there and went the distance, when some, including myself thought he was going to be wrecked at the end. 8 hours in just over 24 hours against some in form players. It's not always about who won. Not always.

Maybe. I suppose seeing Djokovic's wife put out an Instagram post trying to insert Novak into a journalist tweet about Rafa being great just kind of put me in mind of your post. I'm sure you didn't mean it to take away from Rafa's win, but when even Novak's wife is doing that kind of thing, understandably some Rafa fans will see these type of posts differently than you might

Full credit to Novak. Very impressed by what he did in Rome. I mean played 5 hours the day before the final into the night.
Still took the King of clay to the limit. And he made no excuses after losing. Sign of a true Champion.

Novak is STILL the 2nd best on his WEAKEST surface. All this talk about Titspas/Shapavalov/Rublev/Thiem etc being greater than Novak on clay just needs to stop.

Novak on his weakest surface >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Everyone except Nadal.

I'm not Djokovic's wife....not the last time I looked anyway. ;)

And you know me well enough by now and how I post here.

Djokovic was the moral victor of Rome, it's pretty clear. Dead tired in the final and still delivering bakery products to his opponent. The Man of steel...(y)

@Hitman I'm curious to know your opinion on the movie Tenet. Particularly the storyline, action scenes and Ludwig Goransson's soundtrack :D

The movie was one wacky ride to say the least, I think they tried to do Inception but with time, some of it was good, but other parts of it were just not needed and it felt a little bloated in places. Will give props for the boldness though. The fight scenes were good, especially when you understand after seeing a few of them for the second time exactly what is going on....that was clever. Soundtrack was OK, I don't rate it too high, but in a way, it did fit the tone of the movie, can't really see what other type of music they could have used.

I remember using this gif for Thiem when he took the 2nd set in FO19. Right before Rafa curbstomped him. But of course Novak has more heart than him, to keep it close till the end.
