lol, nice one.

Fed's got eight other Wimbledon titles to console himself with. :)

Losing to a 38-year-old...? Djoker gets that one all to himself. Forever. :sneaky:

Thanks for your interest!

Nadal also ... well, almost. Federer was just a month short of 38 :)

Roger Federer, closing on four decades on this Earth, unfurls yet another masterpiece!

Stunning the way that happens sometimes.

There's always next time, of course.

But still... guess that answers a few questions, eh? :sneaky:

Thanks for this!(y)

Sure puts a dent in some of the hater's arsenal, huh? Still good after all these years... :)

This is a thread to celebrate the Maestro's incredible acheivement. Let's see how topspin to the backhand and the skinny backboard are doing near 40, okay?

Been here only a short time and already getting sick of the vile posts coming from you.
Vile?
Im just trying to put some ground under Fed fans feet. Do you think Fed gonna beat Novak in AO?

Maybe if the court isn't blue clay. Then again, Fed did win Madrid '12 when wedgie and Screech were complaining, so you never know ;)

Fed proved last night on a real court he's still the best in the world.
He doesn’t even need to win WTF first?
A court is a court, you cannot demand Fed has every court tailored for him.
AO 2020 using the same people as the one for Basel. No excuses for Fed not to win AO then?

He is near 40 with 20 slams, he doesn't "need" to do anything. I wouldn't be surprised if he did though, nothing surprises me anymore in regards to Roger.

As far as Basel and the AO, the same organizers does not imply the same court. I won't indulge in far out conspiracy theories.

This conversation ends here.

Novak got more indoor HC trophies though. Unless you count Basel of course, but I have a feeling you count Basel as a master or something ;)

Let's be honest Fed fans which would you rather, the Wimbledon win or this one? We all know the answer and we know which one Djokovic fans would prefer to lose also.
Yep. As a Fed fan, I can't say I feel that revenge has been had...the YO is so meaningless when compared to a major...IMHO.

The Djoker we saw today has no percent. When he does not care like today, he can have moments that are incredible, followed by "whatever" shots. Zero emotion showed.

Want and passion are huge. In my personal opinion, when Djoker shows passion and wants something, he usually takes it. When it's absent, it's there to be taken from him. WC19 is a good example of this, but Fed did not take advantage of it. He did today.
You're right. Djoker was just solid in the Wimbledon final, not exceptional.
He was even a break up in 5th set and just gave it back.
And Fed messed up all 3 tiebreaks plus that service game

Connors is the GOAT then, with 109 titles. Or Laver with 180 titles.
You've obviously also regressed in the logic department.

There is a 5 % difference in total titles and 3% in total match wins between Roger and Connors. There is a 50% difference in indoor titles and 50% indoor match wins between Roger and Nole. Do you see the difference?

Yeah, was great but I bet most Fed fans (including myself) would trade yesterday's win to a 0-6, 0-6 defeat for one ace down the middle at 40-15 4 months ago.

It looks as if you are suggesting that Federer only won because Djokovic didn't care. That Djokovic can decide at will when to win and when to lose. That's not how it works. Djokovic was outplayed yesterday. Federer was the better player by a mile. The beating he was receiving is what made him appear resigned. He was doomed and he knew it. There were plenty of reasons for him to care with YE#1, adding weeks at #1, tying Federer with 6 YEC, keeping the mental edge in the rivalry. He cared. He just tried to act like he didn't because he knew there was nothing he could do to stop the Fed Express because once it gets rolling, he's unplayable. Any mental advantage that Djokovic may have had is gone now. Apparently he never really had it in the first place. Federer looked forward to this match up more than Djokovic did. It showed with his dominance yesterday over the Serb. A proper beating. Damn right.

Djokovic knows that he was lucky to win Wimbledon. He should have lost in three or four sets, because Fed was the better player by some margin. But Novak is an ATG as well, so he managed to hang with him in three sets. And in the end, he played the big points better, that was Fed's mistake.
Nothing to take away from Novak, deserved victory, but he shouldn't have won that match, he was outplayed most of the time.

Nevermind if this was played on proper grass, Novak would be out in 3.

Of course. I also see a 40% difference in indoor big titles between Roger and Nole.

What I am suggesting is, Fed outplayed him in every aspect, but Djokers level never reached a high level except for some random shots here and there. Not saying Fed would not have beat him regardless. But I am saying Djoker was clearly not at his best.

Of course he should have cared. But he didnt. Same thing happened at WC as well for a set and a half.

Sometimes a match is simply out of a players control. Djokovic had no control and it was not because he chose that. Djokovic can care or not care until the cows come home. He's not beating that version of Federer on an indoor court. Federer when in the zone, is the superior tennis player.

sad but true.

djokovic won all the big ones. fed won the scraps.

But this RR match was far more significant that the previous Fed wins...#1 for DJ was on the line...and that is very very important.

Djokovic would have needed to win two more tough matches over Tsitsipas and Thiem/Zverev to be #1. Plus Djokovic already has 275 weeks and 5 years at #1, he's not desperate to be #1.

Overrated match just because of Federer. In 2016 the #1 was really on the line between Murray and Djokovic but I never heard of it as a great win for Murray.
