Does anyone remember the line of tennis wear called Australian? It had a kangaroo on its logo. They used to outfit pros like Hana Mandlikova and Goran Ivanisevic for a time.
Hana wore their clothing in the late 70's and into 1980 before going to Ellesse. She got caught up in a strange situation where apparently she signed a contract with Donald Dell's management company who had her with Australian clothing and shoes and Dunlop racquets. But when she took on Betty Stove as a coach, Betty swayed her to Phil de Picciotto's company which is now called Octagon. They signed her with Ellesse clothes, Puma shoes, and Wilson racquets.
Dell sued saying that Hana was in breach of contract and they settled. When Hana was in Europe and Australia, she had to honor Dell's contracts, and when she was anywhere else, she had to honor Octagon's contracts. Literally, for a year, Hana had to dress according to where she was playing.
Dell's contract ended at Australian Open in late 1980 and so Hana went completely with Ellesse, Puma, and Wilson. I've never heard of a situation like this one.
