Manic Monday order of play?

So Manic Monday where all 4th round matches are played. There are 7 big matches but only 6 are going to get on CC and Court 1:

Djokovic v Humbert
Nadal v Evans/Sousa
Federer Berretini
Konta v Kvitova
Williams v Suarez Navarro
Halep v Gauf
Barty v Riske.

Depending on whether they choose a 2 men’s matches/1womens on Centre and the other split on 1, I am thinking Konta v Kvitova is a cert on Centre and then depends if Evans gets through v Sousa. If he does I think Rafa v Evans will be put on Centre as well. Which means one of Novak or Roger getting pushed to court 1.

I think Halep v Gauf likely to be the one that loses out and pushed out to Court 2.

But a tough choice for the organisers tomorrow.

Hmm so Nadal v Sousa, Djokovic v Humbert and Federer v Berretini. Will be interesting which of those two get put on Centre or organisers just choose 1 and shunts 2 of those out to court 1 and puts Serena v SN and Konta v Kvitova.
You listed six matches. Which is the seventh?
Oh Barty v Riske. Barty being world number 1. Was writing too quickly whilst watching the Evans match.

I am thinking Novak and Roger get priority as the top 2 seeds and Konta match will be put on Centre.

Rafa v Sousa, Serena v SN and Barty gets put in 1.

I think barty will be on court 2. Big three and Williams almost guaranteed top 2 courts. Gauf is the story of the tournament and is the talk of the tournament right now. Her match yesterday amassed 5 million viewers, the most of the tournament. And Konta as she’s British, and it’s a pretty tasty match.

Technically all those matches can happen with one mens and three womens matches on court one. But they won't. Barty looks most likely to go to court two, all those mens matches will remain on the show courts.

Yeah never seen more than 3 singles matches each on CC and Ct 1. The problem with grass and needing to maintain it to last two weeks. At least Wimbledon this year in the first week have put 2 ladies and 1 men’s match on Centre. I still think the preference of all top players is to play on centre rather than court 1.

Also, if they put Nadal on court 1 on Monday for a match he can’t lose, they will have every excuse they need to put him on center against Querrey, for a match he could lose if it were on court 1. They won’t want Federer on court 1 v Berrettini for the same reason.

Yes, because centre is where the semis and finals will play, so the top dogs want as much time on that court as possible.

I think Feds will stay on Centre on Monday, his match up is the more juicy one.

Yes. He will. Plus either Nadal or Djokovic. Probably Djokovic. That way, Nadal and Federer get to be on center on Wednesday, with Djokovic on one. It is harder to return serve on court 1, so they won’t want a big three player playing a big server on court 1. So, Federer v Berrettini and Nadal v Querrey will be on center, much reducing the chances of an upset in either match.

Court 1 is also becoming the graveyard of champions court Novak lost to Querry in 2016 Rafa lost to Mueller back in 2017 and Roger last year to Anderson.

Just throw away Nadal / Sousa and Williams vs Navarro match...... Don't even waste time, dont' even play it. Serena needs the rest anyway, she is also playing Mixed doubles. just give the match to Nadal and Serena on Monday and let them rest... it is waste of time to play them

Barty out on court two confirmed.

I don't think he will. That means he is likely to play his quarter final on Centre and that is good for him.
Well after last year and the organisers relenting and putting him on Centre v Nishikori.

If Fed wins his 4th round and Kei gets through his. Plus Rafa and Querry meet and Novak v Goffin most likely that’s a discussion for Tuesday on who gets on Centre.

On paper it should be Nadal-Querrey on court 1 as the other top guys get seeded opponents. But on the other hand Querrey is probably the most likely to cause an upset.

I doubt they put Djokovic on court one twice in a row. Djokovic v Goffin or Verdasco is interesting also.

It’s ridiculous that Djokovic as defending champion and no1 is in court 1 for the 2nd time. I knew they would do this, plus they will put Nadal on court 1 for the quarter final match against querry too! Provided all the big 3 win. They will favour fed and keep him on centre like usual. It’s just the way it is, Novak should still be too strong for Humbert anyway though.

honestly teh fans whine more about court assignment than the players.
Not to mention the fact that it's really up to the tournament to decide which match they feel is more compelling for the fans. Berrettini vs Federer seems like the more compelling match over Djokovic and Humbert.

If Felix advanced into 4R, Djoker would play CC with 100% probability. Humbert advanced, whose results and hype are more weaker than Felix's.

I know they have two roofs now but still will never understand why Wimbledon will never ultilize the middle Sunday or begin matches earlier on Monday. Confuses me no end.

Middle Sunday, apparently for repairs to the grass, too early in the morning grass can be slippy.

Nadal Sousa seems the least compelling to be on center. Maybe it was made before Sousa Evans match finished and the organizers just swapped Evens and Sousa for being too lazy!

It would be an absolute pisstake if the defending champion misses out on Centre Court for a 3rd match in a row.

It’s always been the case even before the two roofs. It’s to let the grass breathe after 6 days continuous play. People’s middle Sunday was rare even before the roofs. I remember going to one back in the noughties when there was so much rain in the first week and they were well behind schedule. That won’t happen again now with the roofs.

It also allows Wimbledon the surrounding area some respite from the crowds and traffic for one day, as it is right in the middle of a residential area.

They probably got it right this time. Fed's match is the most interesting by far, while it's a toss up between Nole and Rafa. But, for the QF I can't see it any other way than Nole vs Goffin (defending champ) on CC, Fed vs Nishi on CC (the Blockbuster), and Rafa vs Querrey on Court 1.

It really does not matter imo. They need to fill both main courts with spectators, so they need attractive matches on both.
