Marat Safin interview on his life nowadays

Holy hell this is some deep stuff !

"It is foolish to assume that we are alone - such cool guys in fur coats, dollars and bitcoins, when there are trillions of galaxies around. We are just one of them."

haha.

I know Marat was a truly great and enigmatic tennis player, but enough of the eulogising of him as some kind of wise and great person, particularly now. He is a washed up jock, who did nothing with his immense position of social and political influence. Someone with his level of charisma could have made huge changes.

If he was truly introspective, the first thing he would be wanting to make amends for would be his performance as a politician. He was in a unique position of influence and his performance there was terrible.

Even Marat wasn't cool enough to resist the illusion of indulgence (in the papal sense) through some wonky life philosophy. Ironically, all such people say they "got it", but the choice itself belies that.

I feel he's just doing that year of back packing that rich kids do after college. Good for him

- How often do you meditate?

- Once a day, twice. An hour and a half it takes - in the morning or in the evening. I always find time. Believe me, when you want, you will always find him.

- Do you need to do this at home?

- It's easier there. Here, in a cafe, you will not sit with your eyes closed and meditate. It looks silly.

- And it becomes easier for you?

- Yes, there is a freshness of consciousness. You remove unnecessary thoughts, unnecessary things that accumulate in your head, negative. For example, talked to a not very pleasant person, he sucked the energy out of you. You come squeezed like a lemon. And you remove unnecessary thoughts, calm the mind, clean your mind. Silence must be inside to understand what's what. So that there are no unnecessary thoughts that confuse you and make you take this or that decision.

"I have seen things you people wouldn't believe. Flying saucers on fire off the shoulder of Machu Picchu. I've visited brothels glittering in the dark deep into the Himalayas. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to meditate."

Sorry. I forgot English wasn't your primary language. Yeah, it an expression and a cliche.
My point was how can we say he lost the plot when we don't know what's best for him...I get what you mean though
I didnt really mean it as critique to Safin.
Fine for me to loose the plot now and then.

Marat Safin seems to enjoy life travelling on his own. Kind of reminds me of what Samuel L Jackson said in Pulp Fiction.

Maybe he visited the mythical Shangri La and now he is enlightened. In any case better than his roots in Crimea which is confiscated illegally by the Russians. Somewhere i read he is an indigenous Tatar.

I think he is Tatar from Tatarstan originally, not Crimea.
