Marat Safin with a great comment about Federer

Also nalbandian, 2005 WTF. God I need a life.

With all due respect, I know a lot of individuals laud that victory but despite being a hige Nalby fan it's extremely overrated. It is a fact that Federer was far from 100% especially during the last few sets, suffering as he was from a relapsed twinging of his recently healed sprained ankle which had put him out of contention for much of the latter end of the season prior to the WTF. His movement and serve was blatantly compromised. It was very obvious. He was almost hobbling during the last couple of games during the fifth set and was either trying to serve and volley (with extremely weak serves) or go for inopportune offensive shots to prevent Nalby from running him around on the court and exacerbating his ankle further.

I consider it to be one of Federer's more "heroic" defeats that despite his injury he was still able to keep things competitive -- not surprising since I consider Fed's 2005 level to be the best he has ever played.

For one to have a valid h2h against Nadal he has to have a positive h2h against him including a win in a major. Rosol qualifies. So does Srichapan.

Rosol also snapped Nadal slam finals streak at 5. So it was an impressive win, and one that will be remembered.

Before his friendly match against Sampras, Marat Safin made a great comment in one of his interviews. Here is what happend:

Interviewer," Who are the three best players in tennis history?"

Safin," Borg, Sampras and Nadal"

Interviewr," Federer?."

Safin," I thought you said players from planet earth."
