Marcelo Rios Racquet?

RDti-50 long

Hi there,
Rios played his whole career with Yonex racquets and babolat strings. until his retirement he was playing with the RDti-50 long which is my current stick ( I happily own two of them). but before that he made plenty of sick shots with the RDpower-10 which he used at the time he reached #1. He also played with prince racquets during his junior days.
as for tension... well pros change that all the time so I can't answer that one
i hope this helps at all.

Actually, Rios used to use the Prince Orig Graphite when he first turned pro, as did Hewitt.

Yea, it seems like every pro had once used the famous POG at point in time during their tennis career. Roddick also used the POG OS as noted in the current Tennis magazine May 2002 issue. The POG is like a pair of Levis 501 jeans, a classic that never dies and still can compete with the newer high tech racquets of today.

Hello,

I was wondering what racquet Marcelo Rios used when he was playing?

Thanks
As I recall, he was mostly using Yonex racquets during is pro career. He used RD-7 and later used other Yonex Long Bodies like the RD-7 Power Long.

Hheheheh...in fact, I do have and use Yonex. I have several RD-7, SRD tour 90, and MP-1 tours, but I keep going back to the POG :)

Oops. I made a typo regarding my tennis magazine reference. I referred to Tennis Magazine May 2002. I meant Tennis magazine May 2005. :)

Also, Srichaphan had played with a POG OS before switching to Yonex RD Ti 70 MP Long which was painted to look like a URD Ti 80 (I read that Srichaphan's stick had a 18x20 string pattern and then looked carefully into some pictures of his racquet and wow, they all had 18x20 pattern).

It was actually a Graphite II and not a POG OS. It was the same with his countrywoman, Tamarine Tanasugarn, before she switched to a Wilson.

Rios never played the RD Ti-50 and the RD Power 10 Long, he was always using a RD 7, with a customized length to 28 (or 27.5). This was discussed a while back and Thomas Martinez confirmed this. Thx.
