I've never understood the fascination with her looks, and I wonder if she would get any attention if she was a brunette. She's looks kind of undeveloped and fish faced to me, but she has great long legs. Still, I'd take Elena Dementieva any day, now that I've seen both of them relatively close up.
Then again, Andy Roddick gets better looking every time he wins a match (so he says) so I guess there is something to be said for the 'persona' and the whole package.

To ad to f_t_s's comments, that pic is one of the most over-processed, over-photoshopped, over-airbrushed pics of a 'real person' I've ever seen. There's a soft filter on her whole body, and her midsection and legs look more like they've been drawn in PhotoShop to start with, as opposed to a massaged-photo.

lol it's actually pretty funny how much that picture has been edited. When I opened the link the picture was just of the body and it looked so fake. I hope the editing team who did that photo get payed for all the over time they must of had to put in to get it looking like that!

Yeah she's not totally unattractive, looks wise she isn't the best but if she had a great personality then she would appear more attractive. The fact that she doesn't have the greatest personality means I seem to notice her flaws more than I would otherwise.
How is that a cheap shot? That's like posting a picture of [insert hot chick's name] and calling that a cheap shot. Maybe you found the girl in the picture to be unattractive, that doesn't mean everyone does.

She is tall and blonde. No ****, no ass, vain, her looks are are as over-rated as her game, and she's a young girl trying to be all grown-up. I have been to Ukraine and to be honest 7 out of the 10 girls I dated there are >= Sharapova. And the other 3 I'd go for over Sharapova anyways.

As I pointed out in the "Reading the score" thread, Maria gets the most attention because she's the prettiest of the BEST players. Kirilenko, Ivanovic, Harlkeroad, and the other pretty girls don't get more attention because they're not very successful, not because of some pro-Maria conspiracy. Compare Sharapova to the other contemporary Grand Slam winners -- Clisters, Davenport, Henin, Kuzenstova, Hingis, Myskina, Mauresemo and the Williams sisters. Maria is prettier and sexier than all of them (with Hingis very close), and is perhaps the prettiest woman to have won a Grand Slam EVER in the history of the game.
Pretty + great = 20 million bucks a year in endorsements and swimsuit calendars. Why is that hard to understand for some people?
I wasn't putting my finger on the scale here -- I was serious in saying I was underwhelmed by the Great Kirilenko I've heard so much about. Maybe it was just a bad picture? I'll do some of my own research on this and get back to you...
EDIT: Just checked some video of her. She's pretty cute, but not spectacular. I'd probably still go with Sharapova.
To prove that I don't have some Sharapova bias, I'll happily admit that I'd rather take Ivanovic (judging from the photos), Harkleroad, and maybe another one or two others back to a Ruvu Hote-ru before I would Sharapova.

As I said in the other thread, the results of this poll are meaningless anyway. Polls in general aren't always reliable, much less polls like this on TT. Besides, you are free to vote her "below average" in attractiveness if you want, but she's still going to make 20 million bucks a year based in large part on her good looks.
