Maria to return to being a slam winner again?

Maria's form seems to be gradually picking up. She is only 23 of course. Many have written her off but do you see her getting back to the level that could make her a slam winner again?

When you look at the next few years there arent many players to win slams. Serena of course. Clijsters if she can stop losing to lower ranked opponents in slams as she has done well vs the big guns since her comeback. Henin if she gets her game on track again. Maybe 2 or more out of Stosur, Jankovic, Petrova or Dementieva, has a slam in them, although I wouldnt be on it. Who else does that leave. Wozniacki maybe if she improves some can win a slam or two in the next few years, but that is a big if.

It is increasingly clear Venus is done. Kuznetsova, Safina, and Ivanovic are definitely done as far as winning slams as well. Azarenka is not slam winning material.

No.

Maria is playing much better and her shoulder is no longer hindering her progress this year. It is only a matter of time before Maria begins rising again at the majors. Not only does she have time and talent on her side, but she is one of the most mentally toughest players on the WTA tour.

Mother Marjorie understands that some of Maria's detractors are understandably concerned by her progress, but its always been about Maria. She is the future of the WTA and Mother Marjorie is thankful the WTA has someone so elegant and graceful to elevate the sport once again.

Henceforth and So Being,

Um, no.

Maria has definitely improved her form during the year. It's still erratic and inconsistent, but when she's on she's an absolute contender for slams in the future.
I mean, who's gonna stop her? Venus & Serena are bordering on retirement, Kim doesn't really care anymore, Henin only cares about winning Wimbledon.
No one of the new breed has what it takes to trouble her at a slam.
Pushniacki? Sam "my timing is only good on clay" Stosur? Azarenka?

Maria will never win the French, that is for sure, but the any of the other 3 slams are a possability for her in the next 4-6 years after this year. I wouldnt be surprised if she wins another 2-4 slams.

You must be watching one of ur favs matches, JBF. Mother Marjorie wonders how tennis fans deal with malignant disappointment.

Mother Marjorie embraces optimism and hope. With Maria, there is a bright future.

As much as I dislike Maria S it would be nice to see a women's Slam winner not named Williams.

With her serve the way it is , NO.

Someday when she sorts her serve out and gets it closer to the form she had couple of years ago, then she is on the contenders list.

Right now she is another good looking girl in the tennis circuit.

Yes. The future is bright for Maria. Playboy 2012 needs a covergirl. That is her best hope at future success.

I there should be a rule regarding the decibels allowed, and if you exceed a certain decibel reading you should get a warning and then a point deducted.

If "mini giraffe" Pirinkova can reach Wimbledon Sfinal then there is hope for "big giraffe" Pova.

I remember when Sharapova was everyone's darling and y'all made excuses for her shrieking. I wonder what's changed? Blonde overload maybe?

She's ugly and annoying. And she was never a Kournikova, never had that kind of appeal, not even close. Not close to Hingis appeal either.

(That is still significantly better than Blake's hope of future success.)

Maria needs to get her serve motion back to what it was pre-injury. If she does not, she's just a noisy blonde on the court.

She said her serve motion is back to what it was pre injury.

Maria Sharapova has announced that she is finally overcoming her troublesome shoulder problems and is able to serve with her old service motion more easily. “I knew eventually I would go back, I just didn’t quite know when,” said Sharapova, who underwent shoulder surgery in October 2008. “But I knew that if I was going to come back when I did last year, I had to start with an abbreviated motion. I’m just trying to work myself toward the U.S. Open,” she added. “I’m just happy to be back playing.”
