Martina making a comeback!

Sorry, folks it's the older Martina. Check this out:

Martina Navratilova will play singles at the Bausch & Lomb championship next week, marking the first time she has played a tournament-sponsored singles match in the United States since 1994.

Why make a comeback on clay? That is Martina's worst surface, even during her prime. Why not play on the green grass in London? She could play Eastborne, and then make one final run at the big W. I bet she could win at least three rounds at Wimbledon, if she doesn't draw Serena, Venus, Justine, or Kim in the first round. I wonder what her motivation for playing singles is? Do you think she wants to play singles at the Olympics? Who knows, but I would love to see her slice and dice some of these younger girls up!

You just know she'll give some up these strictly baseliners nightmares, they aren't used to having to hit passing shots instead of baseline winners! Should be very interesting. Could it bring some more attention to tennis? possibly.

Nav is probably about a top 100,possibly top 50 singles player if she were to join the tour again and play a schedule. I don't think she's better than that in the singles dept. Doubles on the other hand......

yeah, this is very interesting news. Martina is insanely competitive, I'm sure this is a sign that she plans on playing singles at Wimbledon. It's a shame she retired from singles in '94, it's obvious that she can still hold her own.

I love Martina for what she has done in the past .............. but...... her playing in a regular tour event only shows the sad state of women's tennis.

For the sake of the WTA Tour, let's hope that she get's spanked in the first round. Let me know how it turns out, I will be trying to watch tennis the best quality women's tennis from this era..Serena, Venus, Justine, Maria.

Just as a quick reminder about the ability of Nav in singles, she entered a tournament last year for the hell of it and beat a top 30 player(forgot the name) and then proceeded to come so close to beating Hantuchova that it was scary. Her serve is so weak it's scary, but compared to the rest of the women(minus the top 6 or so), that's not saying much. I mean seriously, you all have seen how dementieva serves.

That's right, she did beat Panova last year at Eastborne. Then again, I haven't seen Panova since. Martina did give Hantuchova a good match before losing.
