I was expecting 5 sets.. hasn't it always been 5 sets?
Yah that's what i thought, cuz federer took agassi out in 3 last year's final and he won every set there, maybe it was because of the rain delays, but i doubt it.
Yea it was. They decided to reduce it to best of 3 sets just hours before the match took place.
The outcome would have been no different.
Would have been nice to watch Federer play longer though. Longer he plays the longer you can watch his dominance, though I actually like watching competitive tennis like most people here I'm sure.
I was also expecting three sets. Before the match started, announcer Cliff Drysdale even said best of 5 sets.
For the sake of the fans that were there, it would have been nice to have a 5 setter, but I can understand their desire to get the thing over with that day. It would have been an extreme inconvenience to everyone if the match had dragged on to today.
If the doubles were any indication, it should have been 3/5. The doubles finals were.
Did they ever think that there could be a different game plan by the players for what was supposed ot be a 5 setter? It could throw a player off if he was mentally prepared for 5 sets, then suddenly had a 3 setter thrown at him.
Well if you lose the first set of a 3 set match, you know you have to win every single set after that!... That could mentally destroy you if you get a bad start on the second set..
But if you know you got 5 sets to work with, then you can mentally still be in the game and know you still have a chance!
