The list of upsets in 2nd round (virtually 1st round) is ridiculous. Race rankings:

6-Ferrer
8-Haas
9-Robredo
10-Blake
11-Gasquet
12-Berdych
13-Moya
14-Ljubicic
15-Chela
16-Youzhny

Gonzalez was the only real contender for Shangai to win a match.

I am seeing some big serves and great volleys from del Potro. this could be a bad news for the rest of the ATP tour. He could be a threat to win the Aussie open.

What are you smoking or your just kidding?

I mean played a really good match against Robredo, but there are a lot of better players out there. JMDP seems to be one of those up and coming players, only time will tell.

Patrick Mcenroe had said Juan is only a big serve and good volley away from winning a slam or contending for a slam, and it seems like Juan has improved his serve dramatically, so he becomes a big threat. His groundies are already in top 5 in the world.

I am sorry, I think I misunderstood your post but I think he can contend in the majors. His ground strokes maybe top 5  , but his movement is definitely top 100. Again, he is only 18 years old and can only get better with experience.

did you see his between the leg offensive topspin lob for a clean winner ?? ONly players with god like ability can pull off shots like that. robredo almost peed in his pants. ;)

A good serve and a volley away?! Not really.
As long as he doesn't improve his fitness, he'll never be a thread on any GS. He is like Djokovic 2 years ago, way to weak physically to be a top player. Only time will tell if he can improve his fitness the way Djokovic did.
He has a nice game and I like him, but his movement is a major weakness in his game and it's the part you can only get better after harsh training, we'll see.

Gonzalez advances to QF and in his road to Shangai after beating Monaco 64 62.
Djokovic wins the 1st set vs Ferrero 6-3. Ferrero played well in the first half of the set.

Djokovic will serve for the match, 5-4 in the 3rd. Some people (not all) in the crowd are silly, booing Djoko just because he challenges?

I would guess they are booing because they'd love to see a Spaniard upset Nole? They are just passionate tennis fans! ;)

Of course :) but I think most of them applauded Djoko in the end. There are 13.000 in the arena and there is always some group of people going too far, probably the ones who didn´t play tennis a lot.

Yeah, if Nadal gets through today, which he should, going to be tough on Djokovic and definitely will be moving him around. Wonder what treatments he is going to be given tonight. Something like that, it can be as mental as physical when have a doubt in the back of the mind about how one's body is going to respond or not respond when needed to.

It´s a ordinary thing for Djokovic to request medical timeouts but it doesn´t affect his game most of the times. In the USO he looked dead after his 2nd round match vs Stepanek, then he reached the final getting timeouts in almost every match. He doesn´t need too much to request one .

Please, Djokovic takes stupid medical timeouts all the time. Some of you taking his so called injury seriously, yeah right. If he loses to Nadal in the semis it would be because he lost that day, it wouldnt be because of some phantom injury. Funny how he wins the 2nd set 6-2 after barely winning the first, getting stronger as he went on that supposed "injury".

Unbelievable, Rafa plays 1 singles match and he is injured again. He is visibly limping, this is very very worrisome, for the masters finals and next year as well. this may end rafa's career.

Maybe if Nalbo stopped being so mean to your poor Rafa and blasting winners by him every other point he would be feeling better.

Nalbandian was amazing today. Nadal was definitely not that sharp, but alot of that was probably due to Nalbandian's amazing play. Taking the ball so early, giving Nadal hardly anytime, hitting with such precision and accuracy.

Problem is that Nadal's greatest weapon lefty forehand was negated by Nalbandian's backhand which is one of the best in the game.

I'll copy what I posted in the other thread:

Nadal used the wrong strategy, and was too stubborn to adjust it in the whole match.

Nadal served every single second serve to David's backhand. David hammered every single second serve deeply to the corner and waited for the short reply. Nalbandian played wisely, Nadal did not.

Rafa tried to hammer David's backhand with his forehand, but every stroke was short, landing around the service line.

Nalbandian out-rallied and out-served Nadal. His ground game was flawless today: High backhand, low backhands, high forehands, slice backhands, volleys. Everything worked.

Nadal didn't have an answer for it.

Completely agree. The whole match I was thinking that he uses the same strategy as he would against Fed.

Kiefer and Nalbandian reached the SF, not many people bet on that but they definitely got the talent to do it. Ancic and Murray also played well this week so it seems some good players are coming back. I wouldn´t be surprised to see Nalbandian taking out Djokovic tomorrow.
