Match of the year already played?

Felt like it was a great match.I think it emulated the level of play and drama of the 2009 match like 70%. And that match itself was one of the best ever and perhaps the best in AO. Would you predict a match of such level happening again this year? Between which players and in what context?

I don't need to add anything about how great Nadal Verdasco match was.I think it emulated the level of play and drama of the 2009 match like 7.5-8.0%. And that match itself was one of the best ever and perhaps the best in AO. Would you predict a match of such level happening again this year? Between which players and in what context?

Fixed :)

Dude I watched the entire match. 80% of the time it was an error fest. It doesnt hold a candle to their 2009 meeting.

If Nadal-Verdasco is the best match of the tournament Im not watching the rest of it because I barely got through this one.

Ok... The stats are not very much different drom 2009,and I only missed the 3 and 4th set. It seemed high quality to me, Match stats 2009:
Nadal Verdasco
1st serve percentage 74 69
Aces 12 20
Double faults 3 4
Winning % on 1st serve 92 of 128 - 72 103 of 146 - 71
Winning % on 2nd serve 28 of 45 - 62 36 of 66 - 55
Winners (including service) 52 95
Unforced errors 25 76
Break point conversions 4 of 20 - 20% 2 of 4 - 50%
Net approaches 16 of 23 - 70% 33 of 51 - 65%
Total points won 193 192
I dont have to look at the stats cause I know what I saw. The match was good when Verdasco was on which, as I said was 20 % of the time.

Dude...that match stunk. I mean, both players hit some incredible shots, but it was like 5 hours long. The quality overall was C+

I said it in another thread.
This match was almost like their 2009 meeting... If you just replace all the errors today with spectacular winners ;)

Aside from when Verdasco opened up it was pretty average.
The fact it was a first round match and Nadal was fighting for his life added a lot of drama for me but as far as the quality goes there were too many errors.
Great to see Verdy go for it though - when he's "on" he's one of the most exciting players on the tour.
