Title says it. Working today so can't embellish much, thought some would want to know. Match is today. TTC is showing it. Go Bethanie!!! :D

Bethanie also won Sydney the previous week.

For a pair that got together just for the major, it is very impressive and they have beaten good teams to reach the final.

Both have doubles experience and both are good at singles, too! I expect an easy win. Zheng is good, but it seems like age is catching up to her...her results haven't been great this last year. I've never heard of Chan, but I'm guessing she's the weakest link (unless she's a doubles specialist or something).

I had the chance to watch Mattek-Sands and Safarova play earlier in the week. They looked very sharp and I wouldn't be surprised if they win it.

Plus Safarova has the most beautiful eyes in tennis :)

Chan-Zheng played really well and took out Hingis-Panetta.

Chan is a 2 time doubles finalist.

Oh, well then it should be pretty exciting! I will watch it much later tonight when I get home. Once it starts, I'm checking out of this thread. It's more fun when I don't know :)

Sweet, was hoping there would be a thread for this.

Hingis/Paes v. Hsieh/Cuevas in mixed semis @ 10pm CST, followed by the ladies' doubles final.

The two are pairing up for the first time at this event, and Safarova explained how they came together. “I know Bethanie quite a bit and my coach is a good friend of her husband, so in the off-season we were messaging and we said ‘let’s go for the doubles in Melbourne’.

“Seems like a good decision!” she added.

I'll watch this. I like BMS. Glad she's made a successful comeback.

Watching Hinges/Paes v. Cuevas/Hsieth - a pretty good mixed match.

The only doubles final I remember:

1999 FO Women's doubles final

Ages of the competitors: 18-17-17-18

Wow, since seemingly non-one is a true serve and volleyer anymore, doubles is crazy. There are some traditional points, but beyond those points, there's all sorts of formations, backcourt play, odd positioning, and just seemingly random play.

I'd love Mattek sands to win. And for Hingis to take the mixed. That would more than make-up for my disappointment of the SW/MS final ;)

Yes, nice win for BMS and Safarova. Lots of close matches on their run. And, I don't think they were an established team before this tournament. Great Job!

I'm sure I read that they teamed up together because Safarova's coach is pals with BMS' s husband.

Job done ladies! Couldn't be happier and more than makes up for my lack of interest in the singles final. Today is a good day for thoughtful tennis.
