Maursemo Henin *Spoiler*

Wow, I thought Henin was mentally tougher, but she's looking bad right now, down 5-0 in the first.

Mauresmo finishes the first set at lightning speed (for Mauresmo) 6-1. Wow, do you think she is gonna win in straight sets? Maybe we'll get lucky and they will show some doubles afterwards. If things continue at this rate they could be done by 11 pm.

2-0 in the second set. Henin gets a chance to stall while the trainer gives her a rub down. I reallly hope she doesn't retire, I want to see Mauresmo win this, so it can mean something.

I think Ciijsters Henin would have been much better than mauresmo the man.. lol
Henin has taken an injury time out i hope she keeps on playing and beats Mauresmo.....
In Henins last 2 matches she has came back from 1 set down to win the next to so I hope she can again...

Aww sh*t. This is ridiculous. She was already gettin her butt whipped, now she's got an upset stomach. I'm annoyed. Dang it, she retired.

This sucks but I'll give JHH the benefit of the doubt. She's one of the fiercest competitors in tennis ever and I bet this this is very hard on her.

Congrats to Mauresmo!

What A Joke!!!!!!!

who retires because of a tummy ache in the finals of a grand slam
henin-hardenne use to be my favorite player...but wow what a joke

she doesn't look so sick sitting there in the chair that she couldn't have
played out the match. makes you wonder where her pride is.

The only woman I enjoyed watching was JHH, but her quitting because "Oh my stomach hurts" is ridiculous. SHe was getting pounded so she decides to quit cuz she doesnt want to see 1-6 0-6 beside her name.

JHH is a little crybaby and I cant be a fan of hers anymore.

well at least amile has a major now, better then nothing, sucks that 3 of her oppenents in the tournament had to retire.

Wow.... somebody up there really wants to make sure that Mauresmo won a Slam. Krajicek, Clijsters, and now... JHH?

Clearly a Slam for the last person standing.

But, really. Not to take anything away from Mauresmo. But I have a feeling that she too would have wanted a clear win, not a default.

Sheesh. Couldn't have happened at another Open venue I guess. Only in australia...

If she feels as sick as she does, how is she able to stand at the podium and remain on stage. Why isn't she puking her guts out back stage. How is she able to stand on her feet and remain vertical. Yes, this is disappointing. Despite how it will be spun, Mauresmo earned this win over Henin, who was getting her butt kicked all over that court tonight, stomach bug or no stomach bug.

That's a shame to see Mauresmo win her first GS title like this. Best of luck to Justine. Hopefully she can win the FO.

The champion of the 2006 Austrailian Open is-

A QUESADILLA!

Stop comparing Clijsters to Henin. Kim tore her ankle apart. Henin was getting pounded so the brat bowed out with a lame ass excuse...

Like Tracy Austin said: "She didn't look ill until 2-6 0-2 and then suddenly two points later, she's too sick to play. It's the finals of a Grand Slam - you go the distance unless you cannot stand up anymore."

It really stinks that someone would have to win their first Grand Slam this way. I am a huge JHH fan but that was just bush league, she should have at least played it out and let Amelie have her glory. Marathon runners #1/#2 all over themselves, Sampras throws up during a match but guts it out, but you're telling me JHH has to retire because of a tummyache?

Puh-leez

Pathetic. I think Amelie would have won regardless but a stomach ache?? C'mon, this is a grand slam final!! Where's the vomit? I think it must have been that time of the month.

we don't know what was really wrong with her. i'm sure she realized that the world was watching and she would get a lot of heat for retiring. she's always been a fighter and a hard worker on the court. that's why she is so popular. so she must have been feeling SOMETHING to make her throw it all away by retiring. her reputation, her, fanbase, her standing in the game, her chance at a major . . . .

i mean, she's no dummy. this will be one of the most talked about tennis moments of the year (and beyond, perhaps). already her 'fans' on this board have thrown her to the dogs (with friends like that, who needs enemies)! no sane person would choose to put themselves through all this s**t without a good reason.

all credit to mauresmo. you finally did it, girly! kudos!

What Justine did was low and classless! What happened to the Justine who was limping around, cramping and finding away to beat Jennifer Capriati in the 2003 USO semis? The same Justine that went on an IV afterwards, called herself "questionable" for the finals and then beat Kim in straight sets?!!

Justine has experienced the thrill of winning Championship point at a major four times and she should have given Amelie her chance to experience it. Damn it, Shriekapova would have fought for every point. DAMN IT!
