Maximum Height Distance Between Racquet/Handle and Diablo?

Hi all,

I am adapting my Gamma Progression 602 FC II Turntable, and Wise tension head to a workbench surface.

With the original Gamma base, I have 360 rotation when using the dropweight bracket.

The distance between diablo/string gripper and the racquet/handle is 15-20mm with the original Gamma base.

Would there be any adverse effects to spacing the turntable up higher?

The reason being is that the flange linear bushing I am going to mount on the benchtop would mean that the turntable will sit approximately 30mm higher than it is now. I could reduce this to 10mm higher by taking out the spacer that is on the Gamma shaft, or by mounting the flange underneath the workbench rather than on top of it (I don't really want to do the second option).

Will the turntable being raised by 10-30mm have any adverse effects? I will always have the Diablo attached.

The higher you raise the turntable the greater the strings bend at the frame, the greater the friction, and the lower the string tension in the frame.

Thanks Irvin. I would assume that the distance of 15-20mm (depending on grip size, overgrip and whatnot) between the handle and diablo is a safe and sensible reference to work off? I will aim to keep the distance as close to the original as possible then to avoid the cons you outlined above. Higher end machines with 360 rotation appear to have this sort of distance going off what I can see in pictures. What sort of distance is on your machine, it is a Babolat if I remember reading?

The highest point on my Diablo to the center of the racket is 2 cm. The vally from the highest point on the Diablo to the point where the string rides in about 5 mm. The normal racket misses touching the Diablo by less than 1 cm on my machine.

@Yoneyama A point worth noting is the gripper on my machine tilts downward from the gripper, opposed to the wise which is flat. This means the the string through the gripper, around the Diablo, and to the frame is straighter than you’d see on a Wise. You may want to mount the Wise so the back of the gripper is lower if you can. Just a thought.
