Mayami strings

Yeah you’ll have to consider what’s worth it.

for example, if a full bed poly setup costs $10 in string + $20 labor, and lasts 10 hours, but a NG hybrid costs $30 in string + $20 labor and lasts 20 hours, you might come out on top in dollar cost

Also intangibles if natural gut helps arm problems, or whatever
Except that the Mayami poly at 47/44 feels softer than gut/poly at 50/47 to me...

Just got an email from them stating the below + no discounts/postponing the ambassador program. They must be hurting pretty bad, hopefully they'll get better!

Hello

Starting Monday, we will be raising prices by $10 on Hepta Power and Tour Hex strings for reel 200m.
Also we encrease prices for this types sets too.

Also, due to financial problems, we are temporarily stopping the Ambassador program also from Monday and all other discounts till the end of this year...

$10 increase still makes TH some of the best price to quality ratio string on the market imo.

Mayami was based in Kremenchuk, Ukraine. Between world inflation and the war in the owner's country, I'm sure there are financial challenges many of us can't imagine. Just about a week ago, the Russian military destroyed a shopping center/mall there  I hope the company can continue to weather the storm. Удача и Слава Украине, Маями.

Oh yeah of course I’m fully aware, it’s actually amazing they’re still able to conduct such great business considering. Great company with an even greater staff, always had such great experiences! I continue to hope for the best for everyone!

I really wanted to give Mayami a chance but ordered three strings to try out and after almost two weeks of not hearing back, sent a follow-up email inquiring about the status of the order. The next day the order was cancelled with no communication or explanation about this. Maybe one day tennis warehouse will sell these strings and I'll feel comfortable giving it another go...

I also may be having trouble with an order. Previously ordered with no problems and order shipped in a couple days. Ordered a set of TH early last week and haven't received any notification of updates. I hope they are alright

I ordered these three reels last Friday. Got them today. I'm happy with the turnaround time from Mayami Strings.

It might take a day or two. I understand that internet service for the owner, who is from Ukraine, might be limited. What string did you order?

My Doppios are back from stringing with Hepta Power (something that my stringer was skeptical about) and @JGads % Co were right, it does everything better than the TF40 305 18M prev gen (with Tour Hex though).

Love Volk dry overgrips in humid weather, especially inside the bubble.

Tour Hex is easily the best string from Mayami.

I haven’t tried the rest of their lineup, but after trying Tour Hex this week, I immediately strung up my second racquet with it and ordered a reel.

To me, it’s perfect. It’s very comfortable, very powerful off the sweet spot, fantastic spin, exceptionally control oriented, volleys well, serves well, very consistent response. I’ve also played 3 sessions and had zero change in noticeable performance. It strings up very easily. Color is also awesome.

The only minor complaint I have is that it seems to be impossible to get the 1.28 mm version anywhere. This could be even better in more open string beds. Otherwise I totally agree: awesome string at a great price. Hard to beat IMO.

True , doesnt even exist in Europe..

Over in Europe they are just running a no-code-required 30% off so i just bought a reel of Tour Hex (haven't even ever tried --- i'm trusting the high praises here!) and had it delivered to a friend who's spending time back home in a EU country and who will bring it back to the UK to me in a week or so's time when his summer leave is over

For grins and giggles I tried Tour Hex mains and SGut crosses a couple of weeks ago. I'll start a match or session with a different racquet or setup. About halfway through I switch over to that racquet and am reminded three groundstrokes later why I like it so much. The feel and feedback makes this hybrid ideal for my all-court approach.

What racquet and tension are you using this setup in?

I'm currently using Tour Hex strung at 50/48lbs on Wilson Blade v8 16x19 and I love it. Anyone has a recommendation for the hybrids? I read that Tour Hex/Hit Pro hybrid is good. Has anyone tried Tour Hex/Hepta Power yet?

Anybody had tried the Hepta power? Any feedback?
I have tried Hepta Power full-bed on Yonex Vcore 98 and Head Speed MP Graphene 360. Overall, I think it's a decent string. It generates great amount of power and spin. A little more muted than Tour Hex and not very high launch angle, if I remember correctly. I think it plays like a thinner gauge string, more movement between the main and cross. Compared to Big Spin, I like Hepta Power more. The response from the string is pretty much predictable. String durability is good. Not sure about the tension loss but I played until it breaks without feeling annoyed about balls flies out.

Thank you Tan-Tennis. I'm using the DR 98 testing at the same time the DR 100 both strung with big hitter 7 black....so i think i should give Hepta a try.
Unrelated question about string, however is the head shape of speed 360 less oval than the 360 +?

Why is syn gut crosses better than full bed

Is Hit Pro softer/less stiff than Tour Hex? (Not that TH is all that stiff)
I have played with full-bed Hit Pro on my PS97L. Compared to Tour Hex, I think the stiffness is pretty much equivalent, maybe a bit higher than Tour Hex. However, I think the vibration from Hit Pro is more than Tour Hex, and Tour Hex has more control and spin.

It is not necessarily better for everyone. For me, the setup offers more feedback. Since I spend most of my time inside the service line and hit mostly volleys, drop shots, and touch shots, feel is important to hit with just the right amount of spin and depth at the targeted spot on the court. If I were to spend 70% of a match behind the baseline, I would prefer a full bed of TH. I might try TH mains with Natural Gut crosses. A year ago last spring, I did Nat Gut mains/TH crosses, which was quite nice. That setup last longer than I expected.

Been loving Magic Twist mains, Tier One Ghost Wire crosses in a Pure Drive Tour '21 at 51/49.
Magic Twist feels more like a textured string, I presume due to the twist? It's a very comfortable pairing, and has nice spin.

I noticed Mayami is using a different payment system now, and my bank flagged the charge (considered it questionable?).
I'm guessing because of the UAH -> USD thing? I could just be speaking out of my ass on that one.

Of course, Tour Hex remains in my Top 5 Poly strings, but Magic Twist (want to give it more time) might supplant one of the other 4!
Edit: My hitting partner likes Tier One Firewire, so I'm considering getting him a pack of Big Spin to try; he'd like more predictability. 8-B

Has anybody measured Tour Hex 1.23mm thickness with caliper? I just received a reel of Tour Hex 1.23mm from European distributor and strung my first racket. When stringing it seemed that the string was thicker than defined 1.23mm. I know that the string is hexagonal string so the measurement of the string varies but it is mostly close to 1.27-1.29mm and some even 1.31mm and my other strings that are 1.25mm give constant measurement around 1.23-1.26mm with the same caliber tool.

Naturally one possibility could be that the reel is actually 1.28mm but based on earlier comments you don't even get that version of the string in Europe. When playing with 18x20 string bed I would really prefer the 1.23mm version of the string.

I agree that it looks larger than 1.23mm thickness. Also, it adds pretty high SW to the racket (on mine it adds around 33-34 SW). So, I would assume that it could be 1.25 or larger.

What’s the recommended tension range for the Tour Hex? For reference, I play with a 2022 ezone 98.
I play with Tour hex on Blade 98 and PS97L, strung with 50 lbs main and 48 lbs cross. Play really good and it doesn't go dead. Next time I would probably reduce the tension to around 48/46 or 47/45 and see how it goes.
It seems like a lot of players tend to string in mid 40lbs more and more, and the feedback is pretty good on playability and comfort, so I will give it a try.
