Mayami strings

I posted an Instagram post from Mayami yesterday, can't find it.

Anyway, Mayami on Instagram and Facebook shares an order made from Yonex on June 8th: 4 sets of Tour Hex, 3 sets of Big Spin and 1 reel of Machete from a distributor in Taiwan, then the "distributor remade the store under the Yonex brand and stopped contacting us."...

Thailand distributor, not Taiwan, and problem in distributor and not in Yonex.

Quick review of Magic Twist

Magic Twist is a great string. I hit hit fairly flat and the string generates a ton of spin. It is also really good picking up low balls with lots of spin. Most importantly the tension maintenance is long, probably one of the longest playable string I have tried so far.

Quick thing regarding ordering from the US site. I ordered 2 sets of Magic Twist but they sent me 2sets of Hit Pro. Emailed customer support multiple times but no answer.

Update: Got an email from customer service and they are supposed to send me 2 sets of Magic Twist. Hopefully they come soon.

Got an email on the 18th of July that included the link to the new European website. I visited it and had all the strings listed, but out of stock since we should be expecting them to get in stock in August. Now, that website is not operational. Don't know why, could be down for a while before launching full-mode.

Time to see how Hit Pro 1.25 plays on the Elevate V2 FS98.

Took our PA23 with Hepta Power for the first time yesterday (48/44). Previously had Confidential 16L, and before that Tour Hex.

Hepta Power feels very similar to Technifibre 4S to me with a slightly more inconsistent launch. A little plasticy, tons of spin. It was absolutely amazing on kickers for me, a bit inconsistent on groundies as I found several of my attempts at deep, high clearance, high topspin rally balls sailing long or dipping into the net.

Definitely soft, and a welcome change for my elbow as I think I may have let the Confidential get a few too many hours on it (~12 - 15). Dropped 1.5 lbs after one light session, however, so I'm not sure how well tension is going to hold up.

So far so good though. Another nice, soft, spinny poly from Mayami.

Played 1.5 hour with a beginner hitting partner today using the Mayami Hit Pro 1.25 x Elevate V2. At such low-pace of hitting, the more "plasticky" Magic Twist felt easier to play with. I hit some decent forehands and 2-handed backhands when he would send the ball deep and fast enough. I felt that Power didn't come easy and that I needed to provide the biggest amount on my own. Directional control seems to be its best attribute, but I will report back - maybe with decent footage - once I play it with advanced hitting partner.

I know there are no beginner-level players here, but info is still info, so I'd take Magic Twist over Hit Pro for days like today.

What I enjoyed the most was serving at the end of the session. Hit several 2nd serves fast and with some side-spin. Once I placed my toss a bit more inside the baseline, the balls bounced about 10 cm inside the service line and the second bounce fell just before the fence. I'll make a clip with serving exclusively, as it's the part of my game I have practiced the least - less than 5 months.

Mayami has a nice little promo going on in the US. If I’m reading it right, they are potentially liquidating and closing their US warehouse. They will then operate a single warehouse in Poland and ship world wide from that location.

Direct to consumer on a global scale is very hard for a company their size. Hopefully one of the big US retailers will pick them up as their products are very good.

Yes, just saw the email too. Good think is their shipping costs for Europe are 10€ max and there's free shipping for orders just above 28€, meaning that it's better to order 3 string sets, than order 2 and pay shipment cost. That's what I did when I ordered 2 Hit Pro and 1 Magic Twist. I wanted 1 Tour Hex to see what's all the fuss is about, but it was out of stock. Retailers picking Mayami up and re-selling is another issue, more complicated that has to be settles with good terms for both parts, which is not always easy to achieve.

Any way to get the BUY2G1REELS working on the Mayami eu website?

Edit : Contacted them and they said that we only need to purchase two reels and they will add the third one to our package.

Unfortunately, the 40% discount only came in right after I ordered the Buy 2 Free 1. Tried to cancel the earlier order but too bad it's already out for delivery. Still pretty cheap. I look forward to trying Mayami! Got myself Hit Pro and Hepta Power, and ordered some Tour Hex for my friends too.

I am sorry I don't quite get what you mean. Does that mean that the mayami-strings.eu is not legit?

And which email is their official for order in europe?

Before start war they located in Ukraine and they have distributor in EU located in Slovakia. After war started they come to Poland and open company there and now they open own official website. As they not cooperate with distributor anymore he sold all positions and have two position in website, with very cheap price. This website was legit but now they just make own website.
Email you can see in their EU website mayami . eu

I still don't really get it. Will they ship orders to the US from Poland? Will the shipping be more expensive and the shipping time slower? Is there any chance that we could be subject to import duty or taxes?

I completely understand that things are complicated to run from Ukraine or far away, but I'm not sure I understand the approach here. In the past, I've encouraged TW to bring Mayami strings into their lineup. They are excellent strings. Now I am encouraging Mayami to stock their strings on @mazon, as they can handle the logistics and even hold inventory (for a small cost).

Please, someone help us so we can get consistent access to inventory and delivery in the US! :)

European Mayami website is now on!

Edit: I let the Greek forum know about the new Mayami Europe website. It seems that Hit Pro and Hepta Power are currently out of stock, but I guess they will become available soon. I will for sure order Tour Hex to try it this Autumn, since it's their most hyped string.

Unfortunately, I had to cut Hit Pro off the Diadem Elevate V2, as weather didn't allow me to play it fresh... I just ordered 1 set of Tour Hex from the new european website. I know it's a small order, but I've got many other strings to play and just wanted to "help" with their new launch as well as try this very hyped string.

Its great. I think even small purchase can help them in their hard situation. Very interesting to get your feedback for Tour Hex

I've bought and installed Tour Hex more than any other string from people. I hope it isn't harder to get here without a US source. This weekend, I became a fan of Match Point. Yeah, it is a basic nylon string, but strung in the high 60s, it really suited my game on the 100º+ days we had last week. It is kind of wild in that I tried MP at lower tensions in the upper 40s/lower 50s - like other SGut/nylon choices - and was not impressed. At 66#, off the stringer, it was great. With no break-in period needed, I was hitting nice serves from the first swing. Looking forward to hitting tonight to see how it performs in cooler weather or if I need restring and drop the tension now that fall is here.

My order has been updated with some extra stuff including a full reel of Tour Hex, so I plan to offer free stringing with Tour Hex to a few players nearby. Also, I'll cut some 12m sets and send them to a very good friend and much more advanced player in Athens to share. I'll have to keep about 2 or 3 * 12m sets for future personal use!

Free shipping for orders above 28€ is just super consumer-friendly. It's actually a "buy 2 sets get 1 for free" deal. Maybe a small discount code a bit later.

Anyone play with the Synthetic gut? Just bought a reel for my wife who's a beginner and with the 40% discount it was $29. Might try it as a cross in some setups. Wanted to to stock up on some Tour Hex but was sold out. Settled for two sets of Hepta power which according to racketpedia should play as a slightly less powerful, less spin with more tension loss string than Tour Hex.

I had a reel and a half of Mayami Synthetic Gut left when they announced the US warehouse was closing, so bought four more. Maybe should have got two more. At that price, given its durability and control, especially for a 17g string, it's a deal you can't pass up. I have enough Tour Hex to make it through October, I think. It will be interesting to see how the process goes ordering more from Poland.

Synthetic Gut is not listed on the new European site.

.

You can still find them on Mayami's European cousin site. Competitive prices and 2 + 1 free. This site is also having a sale due to the move of official Mayami....

You're totally right, yes. That's the previous website I've made a previous order. So, I guess this will be on until it runs out of stock and the new European, Mayami.eu will be the main website. I just don't see Synthetic listed on the new one. So, will it be discontinued?

No idea about syn gut.
The multi is also no longer listed. In any case, this is a very nice string.... No idea what they plan to do at Mayami's ....

Today's email says that the main Mayami website is going to be the one used for the States, mayamistrings (dot) com on which 2 multifilaments are listed. So, currently there are 3 websites:
- the US
- the old European
- the newest European
My guess is, the US will be the one to be used from now on with proper redirection-tools for prices/shipping etc and the other two will seize to exist.

Yes, totally understood and rational to do so. I'll most probably play Tour Hex next week. I'm expecting delivery.

Anyone else with opinions on Machete? In particular, is it a reasonable substitute in a hybrid for Big Spin? How will its qualities be different than Big Spin in terms of spin, control, comfort and power? I'm particularly thinking of this in a hybrid as a main with Tour Hex crosses.

You won't hit import duty/taxes until you cross the $800-order threshold
