Mayami strings

I probably should be surprised but I thought they had figured out their pricing. $89 and then 5 hours later, $109. I can’t believe they are still doing this nonsense.
 
On my channel I will be reviewing soon the big spin / tour hex hybrid in yonex vcore tour and yonex Percept 100D . This hybrid i know already quite well. It deserves the full video.

That pricing lasted about 11 days :) Sorta ... What's new is shipping on orders over $50 is free. Essentially, the cost per reel is the same and it looks like the company is eating more of the shipping cost. I say, "bravo" for the change. You should consider applying for a wholesale account and stock up. I believe the minimum order is low and shipping is free.
 
Without reading through 39 pages, can any of you who have hit with both Big Spin and Machete give me the pros and cons?

I currently use Big Spin in a hybrid with Cream but was curious how Machete plays vs Big Spin.

I've played Big Spin and Machete in the mains with Tour Hex in the crosses for both. Racket used, Diadem Elevate V2.

Machete felt identical to Tru Pro Firewire. Can't tell the difference:
Super sharp, will rip and destroy balls in a hurry.
Spin assistance is just the highest I've ever experienced.
Cheat-code for top-spin recreational players who aim for large targets, move the opponent side-to-side and finish at the net or with short cross court shots.
I didn't like the fact I didn't feel confident enough to hit throw the ball, as a flat hiiter.
I don't see why people using Aeros or Extremes don't use Δ-shaped strings in the mains. The net clearence, the kick and spin are killing.

Big Spin is much softer than Machete, more arm friendly, more powerful, better for attacking style and flat hitting is much more predictable. Spin assistance is super good, just not at the levels of Machete/Firewire.

It's all about the racket you play with and style. Top-spin players should try Δ-shaped mains at least once.

As for durability, I'll only say that the most advanced hitting partner I play with, plays with an old Head Instinct with super open 16x19 and uses MSV Focus Hex 1.18 for more than 3-4 months. He never breaks strings even though he hits super clean, super fast and with the most top-spin I've seen.

Much appreciated. The Big Spin/Cream hybrid is fantastic and is soft. My elbow barks from time to time. I have used Firewire in the past and thought it was rather stiff even in a hybrid.
 
I've been using Big Spin for a few weeks, and it's become one of my favorite strings. Lots of bite and spin, nice amount of controllable power, huge sweet spot, predictable with good control. And it's soft and easy on the arm and doesn't bother my recovering TE.
 
For those of you in the USA who have placed orders lately, have they been fulfilled, and in a relatively sane amount of time? I recently put my last half-set of Big Spin into a client's frame (with Prince Lightning Pro in the crosses), and the reaction has been favorable enough to the point where I may need to source more. But I won't bother if Mayami is still a sh*t show, and will likely try to source some Genesis Twisted Razor instead, which, as far as I can tell, is essentially the same string.

I also ordered. I'm forgetting the timing. Maybe May? It was under the new Florida distributor. It arrived quite quickly.

How would you describe magic twist? From previous reviews they call it "another PTP" what are your thoughts? Sorry if it has been mentioned before, can't recall
 
Hey folks what round poly cross strings work well with tour hex in your experience?

Looking for a bit more comfort and pocketing without losing long lasting playability.

Maybe ghost wire or like hawk touch? I tried poly tour pro but I didn’t like it too much. string seemed to lock up.

Hit Pro seems like a good candidate. Soft string with great pocketing. I've been thinking of using it to soften Razor Code mains.

Hit Pro is similar to PTP in stiffness. It has a bigger sweet spot than PTP, and more power. Playability is average, it loses tension quickly like most soft polys and then stabilizes for a while. PTP is comparatively low powered and I think less predictable because of the smaller sweet spot. Both strings have good pocketing.
Hawk Touch is also a nice string with good pocketing, but not as soft as those two. It would add better control to Tour Hex mains.

Speaking of Hit Pro, I just strung it up for the first time ever last weekend in the mains with Pro Pro's Cyclone Power in the crosses. Playing doubs with the setup for the first three hours was amazing. Now that it has settled, I can tell the difference, but the control and feel are still there. There is not as much pop on first serves now, but placement is still nearly spot on. Focused on Big Spin and Tour Hex over the last four years, I can't believe I slept through this string. Looks like I'm going to have to add a reel of Hit Pro to my next order of Tour Hex.

First time hearing about Blue Rush (or is it Pure Rush)! Seems like a pretty good string in full bed on its own. How would you describe with compared to Tour Hex? What's the benefit to hybrid-ing it with the two?

Yes, Pure Rush. Sorry - DOH! Anyways, Tour Hex seems stiffer and holds tension longer, while Pure Rush feels softer and returns more energy. I'm hybridizing using different sizes. With the two-gauge difference, I feel like I generate more spin on slices - plus I like the feel. The 15g Pure Rush/17g Tour Hex combo has been sweet. The performance initially is fun - about three hours. After it settles in, it is still not bad for the next three or four sessions. After that, it brings me no joy and I restring. Of course, YMMV.

I almost forgot ... The reason for 15g Pure Rush in the mains and Tour Hex in the crosses is the larger string generates more spin. It is pretty noticeable when I hit slice serves and drop shots. The thinner hex string in the crosses allows for greater snapback. Plus the wear on the apexes isn't nearly as fast on 15g, making it playable longer.

This weekend, I think I'll try a Tour Hex or Pure Rush main setup with Hit Pro crosses. Hit Pro is not what I thought it was, so think I'm going to have to take a little detour down this new rabbit hole.

What do you like about Hit Pro? I tried it as a cross randomly a bit ago, and felt it added a crispness and power while still be a consistent string bed, which surprised me.

So far, I've only hit with it for about three hours. Honestly, before stringing it, I thought it would be a stiff poly that might make a decent string for crosses. When I pulled the first main and felt it stretch, I was like 'Whoa'. To me, a lot of elasticity means loads of available power, which was confirmed when I was serving. Since I rarely hit a ball from the baseline, I was impressed by the Hit Pro/Cyclone Power feel and my control while inside the service box. My volleys were crisp and went exactly where I wanted them to go. Honeymoon over, I plan to play doubs with it again tomorrow to see how it fairs after a week.
 
Guys any info on Mayami Strings on Europe? I ve just clicked Eu Official under Distributor/Partners and the website has no strings for sale and is basically empty. Did Mayami stop shipping in Europe?

Looks like they are only serving wholesale customers only in Europe right now. Looks like you can only purchase strings via a retailer. This is from an email back in August:

"In order to develop the brand and improve service, availability of goods in different countries, so that local people could buy in their countries, and also not to compete with our partner stores in Europe, we decided to close the new site www.mayami-sports.com, there will only be a warehouse in Poland so that it can send to our wholesale customers.

We will try to provide them with our goods in the near future so that there is always availability. We plan to add our strings in many shops as possible in near future."

The strings are available on the tennisman.de site.
 
LocNet, I'm wondering if you have advice on the relative tension to use to get relatively equivalent control with Hit Pro vs. Tour Hex. I'm assuming that I should string Hit Pro a bit tighter, but I wasn't sure how much to add.

If I had to guess, I would start maybe three pounds tighter. If it was still summer, in the upper-to-mid 80s, I'd start at three or five pounds. I went with my normal tension because it is cooling down with the fall temperatures. I hope this sorta helps.

Threw a leather grip on the Shift Pro this morning and thought it looked pretty cool with Tour Hex. It's covered with an overgrip now, but I had to grab a picture.
 
For Europe its pretty much over tbh. Cant rely on buying strings from tennisman or other minor distributor.
