Mayami strings

Doggone shame. Damn, good string, if you ask me. I just started using Hit Pro and like it a lot. Slept on it earlier, focusing on Big Spin, Magic Twist, and Tour Hex. It will be interesting to see how the B2B supply chain will work.

I just received this email today as well. I wish them well. I just hoe they stay in business. They have some very nice strings to choose from.

The interesting business saga continues. Just got an email that they are closing their website and going soley B2B wholesale

The saga continues ... In the latest development, this came this morning:
"We decided to close sales earlier (due to the no of sales with a 30% discount) not on February 1, and the last day of sales will be January 15.

Use the 30% discount: Sales30%

After moving to the new site, we will no longer use send emails , for all questions about cooperation, please contact our e-mail: mayamistrings@gmail.com"

No mention of how to get strings from the American and European distributors after the website shuts down.

Looks like the website is still alive and there’s also a facebook group to buy wholesale from

I haven't tried it yet, but I do have a stick with Absolute Perfection mains in Tour Hex crosses in a 16x20 Pure Strike VS. Nothing really special as far as I can tell since I generally play the set up probably once a week and prefer my Absolute Perfection/Big Spin set up.

I ordered a reel of Absolute Perfection on November 11, they shipped on November 18, got them on December 4. I wasn't all that surprised it took that long with COVID impacting logistics and Ukraine having some newsworthy issues. Then again, I was in no rush. My reel smelled weird so (per some of the comments on this thread) it was likely shipped shortly after being extruded.

I ordered reel of Tour Hex and Hit Pro over Black Friday weekend. Last time I ordered a reel of Absolute Perfection and it took about 3 weeks to arrive.
Is the Mayami AP powerful compared to other multifilaments?

Absolute Perfection is no longer available. IMHO, the string was almost like NXT, cheaper and more durable. It seemed less powerful, albeit a little stiffer until break-in, but definitely more raw power than other similarly priced multis.

Do you know if they gave a reason for discontinuing it?

I'm guessing that it didn't take off as fast as the company wanted it. Just an FYI, they will be closing their USA warehouse in the next month or two and shipping only from Poland per a note last week, I think it was.

No idea how to enter the code for "Buy two reels 200m and get one Free. Code : B2G1"

Also, how is Machette, as Tour Hex is out of stock (and I also would get Big Spin)?

Couldn't make out any difference between Machete and Tru Pro Firewire. Same super sharp triangular strings that will destroy tennis balls within half an hour of baseline groundstroke hitting.
Big spin is very good string and very comfortable.

I've played Tour Hex full bed and Big Spin x Tour Hex (best hybrid setup) and Machete x Tour Hex.

I had read that thanks. Is Machete / Tour Hex remotely as good as Big Spin / Tour Hex, or similar to Hit Pro full bed, or even gut/ Hit Pro?

Unfortunately, no. I really liked the Big Spin x Tour Hex hybrid more and have kept one left.

The Machete x Tour Hex hybrid was similat to the Tru Pro FireWire Boost (Firewire x Ghost Wire hybrid set), but less comfortable and less powerful.
These two Δ-shaped strings play better at low tensions with something like Ghost Wire in the crosses. They are super sharp and feel stiff-ish. If you play with lots of spin on everything, they're Cheat-Code, but you'll need to change balls more frequently for sure.

They deserve a try for sure, but I wouldn't go and buy a whole reel before trying a set for myself. Blind commitment.

They are out of Tour Hex. I guess that I can always get 3 reels of Big Spin( as I also have tons of Hit Pro and one reel of Hepta Power), but only if the code works (3 for 2), as there is no place to enter it. I've emailed them.

Don't know the other sttings you've mentioned, thanks though.

There is a new post out on Instagram that they "are taking back control" and will be shipping directly from France

I would be excited about this, but their recent up and downs make me want to wait a bit again on this
But at least it sounds like they understood that the recent sales did not work as well and that they should change something, lets see

Looks like these UK guys will be carrying them also. At some point, a few days ago, I saw Mayami asking us to choose which 3 of their total 6 strings should they be offering. They seem to want to stick to 3 strings. My suggestion is: Tour Hex, Big Spin to stay for sure.

I would add hit pro to the list.

Hit Pro is a sleeper in their lineup. I strung it up this morning for doubles in the mains at 60# and Pro Pros Red Devil 19g in crosses at 54# about half an hour before I played. After two and a half hours of doubs, I have no complaints whatsoever about this setup. Hit Pro feels like a stiff string but is a surprisingly stretchy poly. I would describe today's combo as responsive with easy power, a perfect match for my serve-volley game.

Magic Twist, Hepta Power and Machete all on discount (59 euro/reel) as it looks like they will no longer be offering those strings moving forward and instead will include other brands that they'll sell

I rated magic twist worked so well for me in some hybrid setups interesting choice to discontinue , machete I totally get as that one shouldn’t of even been released anyway as long as tour hex and big spin are still there it’s great.

So Mayami on January 4th sent an email offering a 40% permanent discount to prior customers. This morning 8 days later, I get an email saying the permanent discount is gone.

I empathize with the difficulties they have had due to the war, but with the constant back and forth with discounts and prices it is now become a joke. They are a case study of how not to run a business.

As someone who has used Tour Hex and liked it, I am done with them. Good luck.

Wow. Laughable decisions for sure. Hope they can sell the business who can save it

The war isn't an issue as Mayami is operating out of France. It ain't easy being a refugee with a family and young child in a strange land where you barely speak the language. As someone who was ten toes in with them, their almost weekly pricing changes are a detriment to the company's reputation. From my own personal business experience, I know the company is trying its best to generate revenue, but this is not how to do it. Seeing this pattern in the past, I knew today's announcement wasn't too far away. TruPro makes a similar string, lighter in color and a wee bit softer. I have only one client who demands Tour Hex. Everyone else has migrated to Pure Rush. Mayami makes great strings. I hope they can smooth out their issues this year.

Yes, I have been a fan of Mayami Tour hex and I hope they succeed. Players and stringers make a mental commitment to a string. With availability and pricing that is all over the place, it is hard to support them.

Looks like they are suspending shipping to the US now due to tariffs
I’m not familiar with any 250% tariffs. Not to say that tariffs aren’t crushing their small business but the match seems a little off. I also hope that 44 euro shipping cost isn’t for a single reel. We should get Mayami a pirate ship login.

Unless I'm missing something, the tariff for items shipped from France is 15%. The shipping is right for 5-day service from Paris to Chicago via FEDX.

It seems that Magic Twist, Hepta Power, Hit Pro and Machette will be discontinued. The brand will go on with it's flagship strings; Tour Hex, Big Spin and the new string.

Well that stinks. I've never hit with Machette so was interested in that one. Will see if I can find a trade partner.

It's exactly the same with the Tru Pro Firewire.-
I don't know if any Mayami or Tru Pro "rep" will jump in, but I've played them both multiple times in hybrids and strung them myself. In my opinion, it's the same string, different colour. I could not tell them apart in a blind touch test: same extreme sharpness, same elasticity/stiffness, same devastating capability in destroying a tennis ball within half-an-hour.

Good to know. I really did like hitting with Firewire. Tru Pro has some good strings.

Tour Hex is great in full-bed, but needs a powerful frame to get some power out of it.
Big Spin (mains) x Tour Hex (crosses) has been my favorite poly-poly setup so far. I have kept 1 more set for special occasion.

Ghost Wire in the crosses felt better with Firewire... Oops! I meant Machete! But, both Machete and Firewire have to be strung very low with something like Ghost Wire or Hit Pro in the crosses, because they (Machete, Firewire) feel even more "plasticky" than Solinco Hyper G! They play "DEAD", with a VERY high launch angle, I felt I really couldn't miss my partner's baseline even though in many occasions I'm actually jumping on some forehands to see if the ball will go long, but never did (watch 1st clip with jumping action on some forehands)

Magic Twist felt like Yonex Poly Tour Pro, Dyreex Solaris Spin - soft and semi-plasticky feel, not as plasticky as Solinco Hyper G, Stringlab Hydrogen Revo and String Kong Banana Bite.

Both clips recording at the end of 1.5-hour-sessions. Personally, trying to hit with more wrist action than my usual early and flat strokes. Wanted to see how much "kick" Machete gives (don't comment why was I jumping off the ground).

Hitting partner hitting with his old Head Instinct Youtek: usual heavy topspin

Hitting partner hitting with my Prince Synergy: 18x18 - his ball trajectory is much flatter
