Mayami strings

I don't know if any Mayami or Tru Pro "rep" will jump in, but I've played them both multiple times in hybrids and strung them myself. In my opinion, it's the same string, different colour. I

My thoughts...

In a blind test, I can easily tell them apart. The giveaway is Mayami's twisted profile. Which, in my opinion, makes Big Spin superior to Firewire in application. I never tried Machete. YTex triangle-shaped string also has a twisted profile, but the edges felt dull compared to Firewire and Big Spin. What gives Big Spin the advantage over FireWire is the twisted profile. Unlike FireWire, Big Spin's twist allows the sharp edges to sit up evenly across the string bed. This allows for a more consistent response, especially on volleys.

In terms of performance, FireWire was softer, while Big Spin seemed stiffer to me when strung in a full bed. Spin potential was identical, but in terms of a predictable response, Big Spin won hands down.

My comparison was only between Mayami Machete and Tru Pro Firewire and I felt they were absolutely and completely identical.

Big Spin is way different than these two and I didn't mention it at all in comparison to Firewire.
YTex strings are all VERY soft. Played three of them, Quadro Twist being actually quite good. Every string brand has 2 or 3 VERY good strings. It's a jungle out there! I've stopped "testing" strings about a year ago. I'm just going though what I got left in stock without too much attention, plus the fact I play much less tennis these past 1.5 year than I used to.

Wondering if you have a suggestion for the nearest substitute for Mayami Tour Hex? I use it right now as a cross string. I was wondering whether I should buy additional reels of Tour Hex while I can, or if there is something else I might use.

Also, I saw that you used Hit Pro as a cross. I have a reel of that, but haven't tried it yet. Any thoughts on using it as a main, cross, or full bed?

Many thanks in advance!

I really enjoy playing with Quadro Twist. One of the best strings out there, for me.

Almost any string out there will be better than tour hex as a cross. You can try PP black force or PP intense heat which are round (as crosses should be) and very slick.

Hit pro is fantastic to hit with but has zero grab (I used it as fb only).

It was looong time ago that I played Quadro Twist with my Diadem Nova. It was a nice and soft string, but I've said, I've stopped "testing" strings about a year ago.
I'm pretty much like you. I am done trying out strings and using what seems to work for me. There are some strings I like that are no longer made, so that's when I usually have to try to find a replacement ( it's exhausting to say the least).

I played tennis last week after a couple months off. Went with a good friend with zero racketsports background. We used Orange Stage 2 balls and had great time. We wouldn't be able to exchange a single ball with regular tennis balls.

Stage 2 balls helped me rediscover my strokes and timing. Then, i hit about 10 minutes with some guys playing next court with regular balls. Timed every ball perfectly.

Point is this, I'm just looking to spend as much fun of a time as possible. I'm not thinking about my gear any more. Going to play Padel in about an hour from now.

You should buy additional reels, if still available. It is a solid string. As far as substitutes goes, Pure Rush and Solinco Mach 10 are nearly the same string both in color and shape. I haven't played with Solinco's version, but Pure Rush plays a little softer and seems to stiffen as it loses its elasticity. Then, it feels a little bit more like Tour Hex.

I only played with Hit Pro as a cross. It seemed to have loads of power, good snap back, and the playability seemed extended. For power, feel, and longevity, I would give it a 8 out 10. It felt great for doubs. For spin, probably 6 out of 10 in a full bed or with it in the mains. I don't think it can generate the rpm's that a shaped string would, but that would depend on the frame and pattern, of course.
