Med is the ONLY guy who can beat Djoker

There is one man that can beat Djoker. His name is... Med. (Well, it is not his full name because I am lazy, but this parenthesis sentence took longer... so maybe not lazy)

He is the only player that can be just as consistent, just as defensive, and serve just as well.

I do think if Med reaches the final, he will win it. Period. He will beat Djoker assuming he is healthy when they reach the final. He will have found his game and confidence.

Only hope for those who don't want Djoker to win, and for those who hope to see a great final regardless of winner, is for Med to reach the final.

Med will beat Djoker in 4 or 5 sets. Book it.

Hopefully OP is not making this call watching Med pummel Delbonis

No one is beating Djokovic here. The competition is so so far behind him. I don’t see Djokovic losing any sets, perhaps 1 if he is in a benevolent mood

No, it has just been a while since I have seen him play, and he can definitely beat Djoker here I'd he plays his A game, and if he reaches the final... he is locked in.

I am not worried. There's always the next Thiem/Med/Zev for Fed fans to hype up before their match vs. Djokodal.

Also, remember, Rafa had to come to the net 66 times to beat Med.

Djoker is not good enough at the net for that to work.

You are right, there is no good competition, so we have to hype them up to pretend like tennis is not struggling.
Just as Fed fans hyped the Philippoussis and Baghdatis of the world as stronk competition during his hey day, it's just a habit that dies hard.

Interesting.

My own opinion, of course, but I think Tsits/Zverev/Raonic are all bigger threats than Thiem at this USO.
Agreed but I would say they are all in the same tier of threat. I still think it's possible Thiem could play his way into form and if does he's a real threat. His level at the 2019 WTF was great and that was a fastish court and the same for the AO so he's shown he can do it away from slow courts.

We don't know what a Coronavirus survivor is going to do in a drawn-out five-setter. Stamina could end up being a major issue.

Truly anybody can beat Djokovic at this US Open.
Nothing would surprise me, after what we saw last week in his SF and Final.
And that was the physically and mentally fresh version of Djokovic.

Wow that's quite a claim about a guy who made his first SF and qualified for the WTFs at age 23. I do think his ranking is inflated but he could definitely have a Monfils/Gasquet type career.
True. But I don't see much of a ceiling for him. But how many SF's has Monfils and gasquet been in all together? 3? 4?

So maybe one or 2 more for Big Berr tops.

We all know about it, and we all see it. It's obvious. Nobody ever wants to admit it, but it's there.

People on this forum hate Novak Djokovic. The first question to ask: why? Why do you all hate him? The obvious answer: you didn't watch him in his prime.

Likely explanation: I know that most of you are around 11 or 12 years old. That means you only got into tennis in the last couple years. So you never watched Novak in his prime.

And because you didn't watch him in his prime, you try to compensate for that by diving into stat sheets and analyzing geometric means. But here's the thing: Tennis isn't played on Excel spreadsheets. The moment somebody brings up "adjusted for difficulty" or "ELO" I know they know nothing about tennis. Novak's game cannot be encapsulated by one stat. He's the greatest Australian Open player ever, and one of the 3 best players to ever play the game.

So when I hear somebody say that someone is better than Djokovic, I laugh, because I know that anybody who watched Djokovic in his prime wouldn't think that. Unlike you guys, I have watched tennis for a significant amount of time, so I know that Djokovic is better.

You might be jealous of Djokovic beating Federer so much, or jealous of his status as the greatest returner in Tennis history, or whatever. Unless you're a Laver fan who watched tennis in the 60's, or a Sampras fan who watched tennis in the 90's, you don't know what real, cold-blooded, killer instinct, will-to-win tennis looks like. And there's nothing wrong with that. This forum would make you think that Novak isn't even a top 100 player ever.

So don't go spouting bullcrap about players you didn't watch. Talk about your "greats" like Roddick, The Best American Player in the World™, but leave the Novak talk to the adults. Fair?

It would not surprise me though. He kind of needs to gather momentum to get going. I would say for him, the next 2 rounds are the most dangerous.
I disagree completely. Medvedev is too consistent to lose to trash. His QF/SF should be tough. He could get Rublev and any of RBA/Raonic/Thiem. Dimitrov could be tricky on this court too though he's a big favorite vs Grigolo.

No, once Med gets going with confidence and gets fully engaged, he is too consistent on these courts. Dimitrov not a chance. Raonic doubtful, but RBA and maybe Thiem could give him trouble.
