Meddy up 6-2, 5-4, 40-15 on Griekspoor's serve...[had 4 MPs]... and yet...

Medvedev receiving code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct in match against Griekspoor
edited to add video link here:
Daniil: “For what?”
“You know what you said to me”
Daniil: “You’re very soft huh? Very soft.” Daniil: “What is this, double standards against Russians?”

Medvedev asked Nour if he had "double standards against Russians."
umpire "Don't say something like this. Daniil, I'm very fair! I treat you all exactly the same".

Medvedev accusing the umpire of being soft? He's the most fragile player on the tour with no lead so insurmountable he can't throw it away.

Im a Medvedev fan, but those comments are despicable. To make a suggestion that the umpire may not be impartial and corruptible directly to their face is literally the most professionally disrespectful thing you could possibly say ti a chair umpire.

He will rightly be in big trouble for this, the same he was when he did the coin thing at Wimbledon.

The second set and match were there for the taking and he squandered the opportunity. No wonder he lost his marbles. The Dutch player does it again. Tallon seems to have the talent to regularly frustrate top 10 players while playing mediocrely against lower ranks.

It’s nothing new from him. He’s still the same sore loser crybaby he’s always been.

Nour is incompetent and biased. Remember Khachanov vs. Evans when he constantly overruled correct calls of line judges?

A polite discussion is ok, but why does the atp allow these angry outbursts from players at the umpires on the court? It's a bad look. I know the player may be given a small monetary fine later, but that really amounts to nothing.
Have security step in and get the player to shut up right there and then.

Medvedev has a history of meltdowns and incidents, he should get a fine for bringing the game into disrepute.

It's not far away from Hewitt saying the Umpire was favourable towards James Blake because of the colour of his skin, thankfully Hewitt cleaned up his act near the end of his career but Medvedev is nearly 29, he should grow up.

Daniil lost because he choked, it's that simple and he can only blame himself nobody else.

At 29 years old he's probably peaked and with his game revolving around court coverage it's going to be diminishing returns as he starts slowly losing a step.

Midvedev playing the victim ethnicity card is just nauseating. No one gaf if you’re Russian, or Serbian, or fill in the blank. If you act like a petulant child on the court then you’re going to be treated like one. There’s not some toady cabal western media establishment boogeyman out to get you.

Players do receive differing treatment though. It's not a cabal, it's sloppiness. Rules are enforced differently by different umpires.

They are so strict about the time now, not giving the umpires any leeway to judge whether to start the clock a little late based on external factors, but haven't straightened out some of these other issues.

Players do receive differing treatment…which is usually determined by things like ranking, star power, and money making ability. Midvedev isn’t receiving stricter treatment because he’s Russian, but because he’s constantly throwing on court tantrums.

Med was in total control of that match, until he wasn't. But, on a scale of 1 to Kyrgios... he's about a 6, not too bad.
His quirky, witty and funny personality makes him more bearable than someone...say like Serena.

And one of the main other issues that we see in all sports is the human factor. If the umpire just doesn’t like you for one reason or another, or just no reason at all, you better not give him the opportunity to make judgment calls. Medvedev isn’t a universally liked player. Heck even Federer was harshly/unfairly treated by a certain umpire. It’s unavoidable sometimes.

Who treated Federer harshly?

Yes, in this case, I don't think Russian has anything to do with it.

Although it is weird that they are still not displaying the player flags for Russians. But I don't think at an individual level umpires care about any of that.

Now he is blaming the balls again and calling Tallon lucky on some shots.

Tallon used classic anti-pusher tactics to beat him - came to net a lot himself and brought Medvedev to net whenever he could to show up his inept net game. Maybe if Medvedev stopped trying to push so much from 20 feet behind the baseline, the balls wouldn’t bother him as much. Ironic that someone who acts as a bully to umpires and even to opponents sometimes then plays a very passive style of tennis and complains that he can’t hit the balls hard enough to bother his opponents anymore while they don’t have a problem doing it to him. Who is the ‘small cat’ now?

It was actually funny. In his last match against Cilic, he was given a warning for delaying Cilic’s serve, which in fact wasn’t true as the shot clock was showing no delay. I can’t remember who the umpire was though.

Wow, I do remember that.

Meddy is griping that the slow balls give the volleyer extra time to react. So he thinks the current game unfairly favors the guy at the net! There's an eye-roller for you.
I always heard that slow courts give the baseliner extra time to hit passing shots against net approaches. Wouldn’t it be similar for slow balls - assuming you are a power baseliner and not a pusher. Tsitsipas hit winners past Tallon without issues today.

Russian victim card gets bonus point cause Russian victim narrative is part of propaganda in land war in Europe.

Khabib should come and lock Med's neck for some behavioural modifications. They both russians. So it should be fair.

The tennis establishment has banned Russians from Davis Cup, banned Russians from Olympics, banned Russians from Wimbledon?!, etc.
The poor Rublev was kicked out of Dubai for cursing in Russian. Cursing in a foreign language. Unheard of.
Russophobia is rampant amongst the powers that be. Let's not pretend otherwise.
It is only a matter of time before Russians begin to develop persecution complexes.
