I definitely favor him to beat Djokovic. Nadal faltering to Tsitsipas in the quarters was a bad thing for Djokovic's prospects of claiming #9. I feel like the championship is on Mendevev's racket.

I wonder if this is the best streak ever by a player who hasn't won a Major yet. If it continues, it would be quite a statement way to pick up his first GS title.

Everyone that's had a 20 match winning streak, except one, was by a future Major winner. (Open Era only)

That lone person is Kent Carlsson who had a 23 match win streak in 1988.

I didn't check all of them, but another person that did it before his first Major would be Delpo. 23 match win streak in 2008, broken at the 2008 US Open before winning the US Open in 2009.

Goffin had a 25 match win streak a few years back but I’m pretty sure it included challengers so ain’t quite the same

When I say this is maybe "the best win streak ever by a player who hasn't won a major yet" I of course refer not only the length but also the average quality of opponent. I am really rooting for Med to win at least one more on Sunday to make it a truly legendary run.

If he wins the AO this will be the best match streak of all time. I struggle to think of one that may rival his. 21. 13 against top ten players, winning a grand slam in process. Who would’ve thunk it.

Fed beat 13 top tenners in his longest streak which included 2 GS (USO 2006 and AO 2007). There have been other unbeaten runs including multiple GS from the usual suspects.
