Medvedev ...a modern day Miloslav Mecir?

i see your point !
that being said, smooth isn't really the word that comes to my mind when i see medvedev (rather... unorthodox/weird) :p
... but unrushed and effective sounds right ;) (he sure knows where to place the ball)
(although the FH/BH gestures appear somehow 'rushed')

Yes in the sense that they are both lanky and languid, hitting flat balls with somewhat pancake-looking backhands.

No in the sense that Medvedev hits the ball infinitely harder with zero variety, whereas Mecir bunted it and with lots of variety/guile/touch.

In that sense I suppose Simon is more of the heir of Mecir.

For those who recall Miloslav (The Big Cat) Mecir, do you also see any similarities in Medvedev? Long, languid vibe...not exactly the same style, but smooth, unrushed and effective.

Also, not much body fat on display with Djokovic-Medvedev.

(posting on very little sleep)

Definitely some similarities, also in the smooth off-pace backhand he sometimes hits.

Good analysis. I will ssy that Med has shown some variety...topspins, slices and angles ...but not the overall subtle arsenal of Miloslav.
