Medvedev couldn't handle the pressure of being on centre court

Last couple of days we've seen many on the forum complaining about the world no. 2 not having played on centre court. Today he did and won only 3 games while the opponent won 8. Game over for Medvedev, he couldn't handle the pressure of being on the biggest stage of all. Maybe he should thank his lucky star that the organizers didn't place him there earlier, he might have gone out as early in R1/2.

Hurkacz's game is clearly more suited for grass anyway and will likely pose more trouble for Federer, as evident by Med's lacklustre display on centre court.

The next gens continue to deliver when it matters most. Tsitsipas, Zverev and Medvedev - none of them in the quarterfinal of the most prestigious Grand Slam tournament. Djokovic's year end 1 looking as secure a thing as taxes, death and next gen loser mentality.

If he played a couple matches on Centre in the early rounds (when he could afford dips in his level) to get better acclimated to the conditions, the outcome today could/would have been different

Yeah, because Harkazc was so accostumed to playing on centre court prior to this match lol. If anything Medvedev should be very pleased with having played on other courts in this tournament.

What a weak wuss this Medvedev is

@NoleIsBoat considers this clown along with Thiem to be worthy next gens to Novak ?

If Federer had these clowns in the generation below him instead of Djokovic+Nadal then today Federer would have been 32-35 slams and we would all be worshiping Federer on how great a GOD he is that has transcended sports to heavenly levels

Suspending play till the next day can completely destroy a players form and momentum. He got hosed. Plain and simple. If they kept it going for the three hours they had left, he would have won

I would boycott that garbage next year if I was med
Yep, this was always a thought in the back of my mind, how many matches get their momentum swung after play suspension. Tbh, I'm not even that mad, it's just bums me out. There's always next year, though (no he shouldn't boycott lol), and the hardcourt season is about on us.

IF at age 25 you are such a fragile baby then why r you playing tennis ?

When will these guys do anything worthwhile of ATG level in their lives ???

The debate about Med not getting on Centre any matches prior (or this one frankly) is justified.

But once the court assignment was made, as unfair/biased/ludicrous as it may have been, Med only has himself to blame for losing that match.

I haven’t watched a point of the entire match but if he was hurt by the change in court then it wasn’t the “pressure” but it was the change in playing conditions.

Federer had his time with weak clowns like Davydenko, Bagdhatis, Gonzalez, Bjorkman in the slam SFs.

Even if we say Djokovic has it weaker now, Fed had 12 freebie slams before Nadal full matured in 08.

Fed won all his slams vs powerful competition, thats why nadal himself could not even reach the semis of HCs a lot until 2009

Davydenko and Gonzalez clowns? Bagdhatis at least put up a fight unlike Medvedev who boycotted the AO final this year.
That was more down to Fed’s ankle injury and lower level that year. He was dropping sets left and right to Davydenko and Haas - 2 of his pigeons.

If you put peak Djokovic in that final it would be a massacre.

Always remember, Federer is the alpha, not Novak :D

Real alphas don't get mauled by Stanimal and Murray in multiple slams.
Real alphas don't fail to beat Peak Nadal despite being 1 year younger and also despite having a double handed backhand.
Real alphas don't get stretched to 5 sets by 34-38 year old grandpas and prior to that lose that that guy at age 25 when that guy was 31.
Real alphas certainly don't be 1-3 vs Dr Ivo Karlovic
Real alphas don't be 0-2 vs Safin and 4-5 vs A Rod.

Davydenko is Nadal's daddy in H2H

So better think twice before calling him a clown, he was the real deal
6-5 isn’t what I’d call being someone’s daddy. 3 of those wins came in the latter half of 09 - 10 when Nadal was coming back from injury

Bagdhatis, Roddick, Hewitt, Bjorkman, Kiefer, Grosjean, Philippousis, Gonzalez.

10-21 down at slams vs both ATG rivals
40-15 choke from MPs up x3
6-2 in slams vs Nadal at peak
10-2 in slams vs Djokovic since 2010
6-0 in HC slams, 3-1 at Wimbledon since 2010.

Not so much noise how Federer has to go through a hellish half of the draw anymore. After all that hysteria before the tournament how every dangerous player landed in his path lol...

And good to know OP still can't let go of the AO final, like it was the only straightforward affair in history of tennis.

Right. "Peak Medvedev". If this is his peak he really sucks.

Lmao. Djokovic has only 11 players in the history of his whole career who lead him in the head to head. Fed has over 25. Of the 11, Djokovic has only 2 players who lead him by more than 1 win. That being krygios and Safin. He’s actually 1-2 with dr ivo if you check the stats.

If you go down the head to head route, then Djokovic wins every time dude. Basically no one has dominated him consistently and by a big scale margin in the head to head.

Hurkacz today came back as a completely different player. He handled Med surprisingly well and fully deserved the win

After a discussion with the supervisor on Monday evening, he agreed that the match would not resume until Tuesday (the two players could have asked that it end on Monday evening on center court after Federer-Sonego).

Reached his only QF at a slam at "24". Wow, that some high level "Next Gen" performance.

I mean it was a very high level performance. People can go on all day whining and complaining about the way they think things should be, but they are what they are, and he was great today. What he's done or not done in the past is irrelevant.

So much fuss about a guy who was 2nd seed (but probably about 5th favourite at the start of the fortnight).

He's a good player but he's very much a "post big three" champion in wait. Was he ever going to win this tournament? Where did that feeling come from and who started spreading it? Lol
