Medvedev has become the 19th player to hold the #1 ranking for double-digit weeks in a career. He has surpassed Rafter, Moya, Kafelnikov, Rios, Muster, Ferrero, Newcombe, and Safin for total weeks at #1 and he's within striking distance of Becker (12 weeks) and Roddick (13 weeks) with Wilander (20 weeks) in his sights.

It'll be interesting to see where he ranks on the "weeks at No. 1" list when his career is finished.

Definitely. Doesn't feel right that he's number 1 when Djokovic and Nadal are winning all the slams.
HEY!!!

He’s won A LOT this year.

Many points over great players.

Many games at times.

Even some sets.

I think matches too if I’m not mistaken. (I will check to make sure).

Soon I really think it will be whole tournaments.

If you even need that.

Cause with some of those sets, I think he’s proven himself again and again.

Doesn't Dinara hold that dubious honor?

She does hold the record amongst the current 3 female Slamless #1s for weeks at the top (26). The other 2 are Jankovic (18) and Pliskova (8).

Some might say that Wozniacki holds the record as she was ranked #1 for 67 weeks without winning a Slam although she eventually won the 2018 AO.

Eewww

And he's pretty well worse than all of those players save for Rios, arguably Ferrero, Moya and Muster could be behind but not much. He's got a long way to go.

Most undeserved weeks at #1 of all time?

Fekalnikov's were worse lol. Rios is also a well-known case although he did boss it for a while in masters, but that slam suckage is too much. 1998-mid'99 was a messy time. Mugdev's got to be the weakest numbawan since 2000 though, both by active title haul (1 slam, 1 masters) and performance while #1.

I think he is very comparable to Roddick.

Wimbledon doesn’t count, so of the one’s that count Med, Nadal and Djok all have 1.

Nadal has 2 (lol, I know), and Joe has none other than Wimbledon. Nadal didn't play last year after RG while Medvedev won the absolute bulk of his points there (as usual, he's much better in the second half of the season) so he's ahead of Nadal by total points haul despite 1<2 slams. Will drop behind once he fails to defend the USO title.
