And I hope he goes on to have his revenge against the big 3 some stage special.
As a fan, in my own analysis, he lost the match physically when he threw out two bad service games in 2nd set. Had he kept his focus, Nadal would never believe that he has a chance. That physical vulnerability drew Nadal to highest levels of his game. It's his fault for playing so long against FAA and Kyrgios and Cressy. Had Nadal played like set 3-5 in first two, it actually would have helped Med to plan out his match better because once he got 2-0 he became very rushed to save himself physically and get it done.
I still think it was as if tennis gods wanted Nadal to win.
Medvedev's droppers have been talked about a lot but you folks do realize that this guy would never try that after every second point if he didn't feel drained and broken physically? He kept trying to find the easy way out because his body gave up.
That is something he really needs to work on. Because it happens a lot and I think is also related to his nerves.
Also the kid stopped believing comment is alluding to the fact the crowd didn't care that Med was falling apart both score wise and physically. I think he didn't show it, but he genuinely gave his 100% as much as his body and mind allowed and the crowd probably didn't notice it since Med is always so ice cold mostly. Every tennis player hopes to be the favorite of the crowd, and it hurts them to see them against you. But this was something deeper and different for Med. He probably felt the crowd didn't care for him physically killing himself out there.
As for Nadal, he is a legend. An absolute Legend presently my GOAT. But I dare say that the GOAT race is far from over.
I can't fathom the strengths the big 3 have anymore. I just can't. There's no stopping these guys. I wouldn't even be surprised if come WB we will be talking 21-21-21.
There's no reason how Nadal could play like he did in last 2 sets after really looking physically shot. Monsters walking among mortals.
