Impressive achievement from Medvedev:

Eighty-two players have faced Djokovic more than once when he’s ranked No. 1, and Medvedev is the ONLY ONE with a WINNING H2H record.

Medvedev leads Djokovic: 4-2 when Djokovic has been #1.

So Medvedev has been beating a Peak/Prime Novak which almost no one can claim to do.

What is Med's future? Will he be a Multi-Slam winner? Can he win many more Hardcourt slams? Can he ever win Wimbledon?

So according to u he's 4-2 vs prime novak but 0-3 vs non peak novak?

Well playing medvedev is a nightmare to play on hard courts for anyone. If his serve is on, it’s dangerous. I’d put him miles ahead of Stefanos and zverev on Hard courts. So unless an ATG comes along, he’s gonna win a lot of AOs and USOs and maybe a Wimbledon or two as the tour is terrible on grass and his game transitions well to grass.

I think Medvedev would not stand a chance against peak Novak. The version he has beaten might have been no 1. but not even close to peak.

It really is impressive achievement considering apart from one and a half year -2017 ,first half of 2018 Novak has almost always been atp number 1 in last 11 years

Not sure about his Wimbledon chances. I have difficulty seeing him go the distance with his awkward playing style.
I love his playing style. Rec players should take a lot from it and realise that great technique comes in all forms, they need to find what works well for them and stop trying to be like other players.

I feel like he will keep the upper hand against his peers on hard courts for some time. But let's also see what younger generations bring. Having used the NextGen term for so long we kind of forget that younger players than them will come by the time Novak fades...

Med does 0 thing that FehDull can't do.
It's just joker has declined. and still he's winning proves that nxt gen are bunch of useless guys.
and joker is having moment of his life and destroying tennis once and for all

We can't say that without proof.
Medvedev might not have hit his absolute peak yet either.

Also who in tennis history apart from maybe Federer might stand a chance against Novak at his absolute best on HCs?

Not exactly a good measuring stick.

Fed has had insane serve performances but other than that yep pretty much

Wow join date 2004. I bow down to thee king of lurkers.
Feds serve is better than meds though
I didn't mean Medvedev's serve is insanely good, I mean his strategy is 'insane', with incredible variety in pace, especially on second serve.

@aldeayeah You should have seen me on the 'old forums' haha...

Its going to take tsitsipas a long time before he can turn around the head to head with novak.
But Titspas will improve the most as he is the youngest. He also has the perfect height physique to not get injured.
Med/Zed won't last long. No one that tall does.
But Titspas seems like he is BORN to RULE.
I don't even like Titspas, but he is almost destined to be the next #1 a and 5+ slam winner.

I really think tsitsipas has maxed out in terms of his tennis potential, there's nothing more he can improve except for stamina & endurance.

He has not done it yet, but his overall level is far enough above the field right now that I expect him to win W at least once, maybe even in 2022.

- Patience, not Federer's strong suit
- Flat slowish balls through the middle, not Federer or Nadal's style.
- Insanity on the serve, not Federer or Nadal's style.
Federer has a way more insane serve than Med...

If 24 yr old Rafa or Fed were to face 34 yr old Djokovic they'd mop the floor with him a lot worse than what Med did to him in the USO final...

Tsitsipas can play a lot better than he has been doing off late. I still hold out hope that he will do something special next year. But I fear that his refusal to work with coaches other than his father, might eventually lead to a wasted talent. I hope I am wrong and Tsitsipas becomes the player he can be.

It really was a fantastic serving performance. Only 58% first serves in, but he just gave Novak zero rhythm on either the first or the second. Obviously, Novak was flat and did not return anywhere close to his usual standard, but Medvedev's bothered him before with that type of all-over-the-place serving. Hard to be locked in on return when you don't know whether to expect a 90 mph kick serve or a 120 mph banger up the tee. Probably ups the effectiveness of those normal kick serves, even, since in the back of Novak's mind he's thinking about covering a bigger, wider one. It's a little like those fake drop shots – if an opponent is getting ready to sprint up to the net to chase down a dropper, then a slow, deep slice to the corner can actually be really effective.

I still think that we have witnessed peak tsitsipas at this year's first half
But hereby I really hope that I prove to be wrong & you, @TennisFan3 turn out to be right in the future. He is the most watchable player.

He is literally 10 years younger than Djokovic

I’m sure he would have a positive record against Pete Sampras if they played this year too

Tsitsipas is 2-7 against novak if I'm not wrong, and with 4 of those victories on the Greek's best surface.

Nothing special about it as Djokovic has been No 1 since last few years.

If he can beat Djokovic in AO 2022 unlike this year i will consider his Greatness as best among Next Gen. We should not pull the tigger early cos we saw what happened to thiem.

Yeah, maybe I should have said irregular (but that sounds negative) or disturbing or unpredictable.
