What an amazing display from Medvedev.
Another proof Djokovic is clueless against unpredictable tactics :-D:-D That's why this guy will never be the GOAT, never.

Nadals a better returner he got aced 5 times and Novak 20...... so he is x4 better returner?

Djokovic is like a programmed bot, can only perform well within the scope of the program but useless when dealing with unknown instructions. So satisfying to see this bot lost.

Two first serves or just a "big" second serve - not as much margin as regular second serve and harder, but not quite to first serve level.

Lad wasn't serving as well.
All matches aren't equal. All performances aren't equal.
I can find you thousand such "contradictory" stats.

Any player would be troubled by such unpredictable tactics so not sure what point the OP is trying to make, other than the fact he hates Djokovic.

Yeah all you have to do is hit 5 second serve aces and 20 aces overall to beat Djoke
Funny how none of that ever happens against Fedal tho...

Hit 2 first serves against Djokovic? Pffff!

These kids don't know where it's at. Murray managed to beat prime Djokovic in 2 Slams, 5 Masters and a WTF with one of thre crappiest 2nd serves ever. He couldn't hit 2 first serves in the same point to save his life. He employed another method......called tennis!!! ;)

Called pushing

Agassi got aced all the time, yet he was one of the sport's greatest returners because when he got a racquet on the ball.....look out.

Nadal is harder to ace because his defensive return is so good. Djokovic has a defensive return almost on par with Nadal's, and of course a far superior aggressive return, deep into the corners almost every time. Djokovic is the ultimate returner.

Federer - 36% return points
Djokovic - 32% return points

Difference is, Rafa stands way back to ensure he gets the ball in play, but it can be taken advantage of as well.

Djoker will give the guy some aces, but he is in better position to return something offensive. I would say Djoker has more success with his tactic.

Raonic used 2 1st serves tactic against Novak in Cincy last year. Less salt, more research OP.

Yep yep yep. Logic.

Some here have some serious issues. They rather celebrate the failure of others, then their own players' success.

Anyway, this shows exactly nothing. Whichever tactics someone employs against Djokovic he still has to do it when it really matters - in best of 5 matches, which is a whole other mountain.

All your stats are from post-23 years of age. Give Mad Lad a couple of years and he might match some of that. Murray was 3-6 vs Joe Kovic with all at M1K level and one slam match at Med’s current age.

It's a damn good bot tho.

But Medvedev knew what he had to do. Even telegraphed it earlier:

So how do you beat a machine? Simple: throw a spanner in the wheels, yank out the plug, insert a malware... etc etc

Why try to compete with a machine on its own terms? Which is what Federe tries (like a chess player versus a computer he tries to outsmart it). But Medvedev and Kyrgios got the better idea: the goal is to win and that can be achieved in another way: be brave, use your instincts and escape the narrow confines of teh machine's preplanned parameters/software program. Dare to throw an underarm here, a double first serve there, and so on and so forth.

Well, Djoker cares much less about these then he did then. Plus, I think what @Mainad is getting at, is that Murray did not have to redline his ball bashing or serving to win, he played all around solid tennis.

Med produced a great redline game for 2 sets. Don't see that as a consistent option come slam time.

But they all are controlled one way or another...

I see a celebration in that picture.

I think right after that tournament he beat Djokovic and Murray back to back at Wimbledon to regain the #1 in the world in the so called "strong era" at the age of 30 in the presence of two 5/6 years younger ATGs.

8-B
Oldmanfan is the desperate one.

Fixed that for you
