Medvedev - Novak is the AO final that Tennis needs

Medvedev's level against Rublev is awesome. He is playing like a man possessed.
He has a GENUINE shot at the title. And the only one who could beat Novak.

Medvedev might be the strongest opponent Novak has faced in years for defending his Australian Open. What a story would it be if Medvedev won his first slam by beating the king of Australian Open.

This version of Novak is vulnerable. While the first serve has improved, he makes too many unforced errors. Backhand, forehand, drop shot, 2nd serve, etc.

Both Medvedev and Nadal have good chances at dethroning him.

I agree. The question is will both Medvedev and Nadal kill each other before getting to Novak?
Keep in mind there is ONE less rest day.

Djokovic - Nadal would be good, because not many fights we will going to see from now on between them. But Medvedev - Djokovic would be epic.

Djokovic-Nadal will have a predictable ending like in 2012 and 2019. If it is a Djokovic-Medvedev final, I would have no idea who to bet on. Djokovic always plays inspired tennis in the later stages of the AO, but Medvedev is on an incredible hot streak and looks like the best player in the world for the last three months. That would be a fun final to watch.

Whoever wins the SF between Medvedev and Tsitsipas is winning the whole thing. This is not the same Djokovic of 2011/12/15/16 we're talking about.

Exactly my point. Djokovic-Nadal or Djokovic-Titspas would be a foregone conclusion.

As expected this IS "most likely" the final we are going to get.

Novak vs Medvedev.

I really hope Medvedev is NOT completely winded because of one day less of rest. Strongest challenge for Novak in the past decade.

The AO king vs the brightest challenger -- who will win?

Wait what the heck. Djokovic vs Medvedev would be long too long rallies and when not it will be Medvedev servebotting, and Djokovc seems like his serve is extremly good at this moment too, so no way it will be good for the of tennis sport.
That a qualifier wins a Grand Slams happens so rarely, that, that thing is what the tennis needs.

Surprised OP thinks Medvedev has a chance against a guy with Pete's serve and Fed's forehand playing the best tennis of his life.
He is the only one who does. Maybe not the win but at least to make it competitive.
Do you enjoy AO 2019 F type scorelines in major matches? That is what we would get from Titspas and Nadal vs Novak.
Please don't mention Novak vs Titspas at F,.O. That was a brain freeze from Novak and he had almost won in straights.

I'm not sure Djokovic-Medvedev would be the epic thriller everybody expects.
Why? Do you expect Novak to show up with the same lack-of-fight he showed at the FO final recently? The only way it is not an epic is if Djokovic gets beaten easily because he woke up on the wrong side of the bed or his injury flares up again.

I expect any Novak victory to be hard-fought against Medvedev as it is going to be tough to beat him easily on a fast court with the form he has been in lately. Novak will fight hard too in the AO final after his 8-0 track record and so, I don’t expect any Medvedev win to be easy either. It is easier to bet on an epic battle than to guess who will win.

Why not? Medvedev will be too tired? He won't be too nervous I think..

It's a fast court which is perfect for Med's game, he's on fire like 2 years ago and Djokovic hasn't been particularly impressive in this tournament. Last year, Thiem took him to 5 sets and Djokovic only won because Thiem's level dropped from the fourth set onwards. I fancy Djokovic's chances against Tsitsipas only. The only way I see him beat Med is if he and Tsitsipas kill each other in a long 5 setter.
