Medvedev says "nationality plays a key role"

How good is the government running the nations economy now then?
Converting from dollar dependent, Moscow's had to deal with sanctions. How would you deal with that? How would you prosper from the vast Siberian land that's got a harsh climate and almost no population? Had the western powers done business rather than played politics with Soviet Union after WW2, we would've been much better off today. All in all, the Russian national debt isn't nearly as bad as the American one that's just doubled the worth of its economy. Sure you could own a house and a car while owing large for both and for your education. How good, though, is it to look well in front of your neighbors and tell the world your nation's great when in fact someone else owns you. As soon as dollar falls to other currencies around the world and oil becomes insignificant, we all are up for a lot of troubles. But I hope tennis will still be played then and Medvedev will have matched the big three with titles :)

So, you knew it was the sentence, not paragraph, that you wanted explained; and you clearly understood what that sentence, not paragraph, meant. Yet, you had to ask :)

You are purposely obtuse when you cannot engage on the facts and then derail with BS that "nobody wants to isolate Russia". Oil prices are truly crucial to economies and the American dollar which is why the US administrations have had issues with not only Russia but also Iraq, Iran, Lybia and Venezuela that's been so isolated now. Yes, there's unfortunately a lot of "authoritarianism" in many places on Earth and Russia isn't an exception. But if you say there's no communism in Russia, you're, perhaps purposely again, lacking perception just as you were when reading my "paragraph" that was a sentence you in fact understood. What a joke the discussion with you, and your thumbs up, has turned out to be.

Sorry if I don't understand something sometimes right away. English is my second language and sometimes I am lost in context. For me sentence is a sentence, paragraph is a block of sentences. I said paragraph because it was a second paragraph (bunch of sentences separated by "enter" button). Moreover, I did not understand if that paragraph was a question, or a statement.

Please don't call me obtuse. Europe is very dependent on Russia's gas. If they isolate Russia then they will just get frozen in winter. Europe economics will suffer greatly without Russia's natural resources. Everybody wants to live a happy, rich life.

Regarding communism. I've seen it with my own eyes and I see what we have now. We don't have a communism any more. We have a harsh capitalism instead.

Please don't say that talking to me is a joke. Not very polite. You act like Medvedev - screaming, calling names etc. I am sure you are a nice person and if we met some time for dinner you would listen carefully to my points and accept them all. I want piece, love and tennis. :) I am sorry for my country and for not having any public tennis courts. And I am especially sorry that we have money on bombs and not on tennis courts.

We know EU needs energy. That's nothing new here. The US and Britain are beating the drums of war and artificially inflating the gravity of situation in Ukraine so that Germans sanction Russian pipeline which uncle Sam's masters do not want. Believe that uncle Sam has a solution for the EU eneger although it is more expensive. Call it dominance. I hope you can see what I mean now. I apologize for being harsh on you.

You're not the only one, so please......Modern Russians and Chinese often misunderstand their systems, even though they live in it. The core values lie in their leaders' Marxist vision. I know I know Karl wasn't reallllllllllllly a commie but..... The "harsh capitalism" is actually a govt owned and dependent on the govt economy in either China or Russia. Wait for 5-10 years and see how the commie powers re-establish themselves in every sector in both China and Russia. They'll even drive their "stock exchange" that'll directly compete with NY, Tokyo, London.. Well, that all if someone stupid does not pull a trigger over South China sea or in the Donbas region now.

Ok, I am still talking to you. I truly am rude when people judge Medvedev too much. For his achievement, Daniil deserves respect no matter what. Anyway, I'd love to meet over a borscht soup, nareznoy baton, stolichnaya and with a couple of Russian beauties. Perhaps, after all that the next morning we could play some indoor tennis (in Moscow). I may call up Daniil to come too. :)

The problem with socialism is that it is like a barbed arrow that you want to get rid of but removing it does damage as well. The government owns everything and no citizens can afford to purchase the assets from the government. You don’t want to sell all the assets to foreign countries and effectively be owned by them. So what happens? The government gives everything to their friends and you end up with a corrupt oligarchy like china and the former Soviet countries other than Germany have. The lesson is never go with socialism to begin with.
Even the softer socialism of Western Europe makes them less prosperous.

So it is Britain and US making Putin bring a 130.000 large army to borders of Ukraine? Something new to learn. You need to come some time to see Russia with your own eyes. But not like a tourist but like a local person. You should talk to mothers who got their sons in coffins after Donbass war, talk to people who live in poverty and what they think about socialism and communism in Russia. It is interesting, however, to see a different point of view from a person from Western world...

Daniil, unfortunately, would not come to play tennis with us in the morning. He lives in prosperous and happy Europe, far away from poverty and Putin. :) But I'd be more than happy to play with you. :) I am always looking for news information, new point of view, new truth.

Call it the US/Commonwealth drive towards the market dominance. Once there's a justification for sanctions against Russia, there'll be no energy from the east to the EU. There are reasons to sabotage the Russian energy market out of which a significant one is the Moscow's drive towards alternate to dollar currencies.

Yet again, you are assuming that you know the region better than anyone. What makes you think I haven't been introduced to a fine Russian mother of a young Muscovite girl that I dated during my employment there? But I truly haven't spoken to the Ukrainians in Kiev that are just busy making ends meet and wondering who is leading them.

Yes, but the citizens get health care easily and for little money. In Cuba, it's free and of a high quality; in China inexpensive and very accessible for everyone, even me the foreigner. On the other hand, Americans have a really hard time with access and payments while Canadians goes through their family doctors that are overwhelmed in many places and that many times refuse to accept newcomers. So, money's one thing, health another. How a largely populated China can give a better access to doctors than basically unpopulated Canada is beyond me; then, how such a rich country with the most developed economy plays games in its health system is shameful to say the least.

Thank for explanation. However, I am too obtuse (I learned a new word from you today, thank you) to understand it. Could explain again why Putin brought 130.000 army to Ukraine (taking into account what he recently did in Crimea and Donbass he is probably not joking) and what does it have to do with "The US and Britain are beating the drums of war" (your quote). So Putin wants sanctions and he will fight with Ukraine to be sanctioned? I did read your explanation and understand that you think that the reason is Putin/USA quarells, but what does it have to do with Crimea/Donbass and 130.000 troops? And why USA/Europe are "beating drums"? I am glad that you lived few years with your girlfriend from Russia, but I live in this country for almost 50 years and I am very curious about what you know.

Regarding a "proud Russian Daniil" living in Monaco, paying taxes in Monaco and enjoying luxury life in Europe - I agree, Daniil is a smart young man. Very smart and very proud Russian.

You are 50 years old and have such a naive point of view , i cant believe it . I said it before, that Putin took over Crimea without any army and because of Crimea has a russian military base that's all. There is no point to invade Ukraine .Its just a political games to try win some benefits or something else . dont you think that one of the reasons to have troops that are 300 km away from Ukrainian border are to cool the heat of the Ukrainian army that with a friendly US help and weapons could decide to take control over Donbass ? And even if Ukraine attacks first Russia will not invade anyway ... they will just support the separatists with more modern weapons at best . Because of Russia NATO and USA could rise military's budget even higher so its also profitable not to mention that USA wants to sell oil and gas to EU .

to think that Putin wants to take over Ukraine because he has a Napoleon complex is just as stupid .Profit and money are the most important values in any conflict . There is no any profit to invade Ukraine ...

Well, few years ago people in Russia and Ukraine were as naive as you are now. Nobody ever thought that Crimea will be Russian. That Russia will invade Donbass... But this already happened. You can call me any names, call me naive, call me stupid, call me a small cat. That's why I think nationality does not play a role for Medvedev.

Regarding Crimea: did you just understand what you said? You said that Putin took over Crimea without any army because it had a military base. So there was an army there or there was no army? In the beginning they said that they did not send an army to Crimea but then they admitted it. Then they said there are no Russian in Donbass, and then they admitted it. Then they said they did not hit a plane over Donbass, you know the story.

I don't want to waste time talking with you. Just stay with your opinion and be happy. I want peace and tennis in this world. I know mothers that lost their sons in Donbass. And I know young guys that are near Ukraine now that could die soon. There could be tennis players among them.

Putin does not need money. He has billions of dollars. He needs a glory and to become a famous historical figure. So how did you call me in the beginning? Naive? LOL. That's like saying that Novak is playing for money. LOL.

I see only IF RUSSIA troops Invade Ukraine than we make this and that ... So Russia officially has only troops that are 300 km away from the border . I know that Russia is helping Donbass with weapons and so on but so and USA helps Ukraine

I am glad that USA never said they did not come to Vietnam. I would be glad if some day Putin will be honest enough to admit they sent troops to Ukraine. But Soviet lies is never ending and I don't think it will every change.

Its so strange news . A Russian court has acknowledged the country's armed forces are present in the eastern part of Ukraine. The Kremlin has persistently denied the presence of Russian forces in the Donbas region.

So Russia has honest courts? You said that there is only lies and corruption...?
And the only evidence is that russia send 70 trucks with supplies to the Ukraine. So its a bit controversy... UN still silent about it. Officialy troops are near the border or 300km from it.

When they saw russian troops near Ukrainian border US took photos of it immediately. And now evry man in the world saw them. But they cant detect those troops in Ukraine otherwise those photos would be everywhere and long time ago

This a strange news for you and there is nothing new for me and millions of Russians and Ukrainians. :) Not all Russians scream on tennis courts and behave like Medvedev, same as not all judges are corrupt in Russia. Look, I don't want to argue you with you. You can keep your opinion, it does not matter for me at all. There were and there are Russian troops on Donbass. They like to say that it is a civil war. I will tell you a very simple and easy to understand answer - 95% of Donbass male population are non-educated hard-working coal miners that would rather kill you with a rock than use tanks, missiles etc. Let's just close this discussion, please. If you are really interested in this topic you can search evidence on Internet - there is much of it, including killed and captured Russians on Donbass, their photos, videos etc. I wish you and everyone peace and happiness. War is a horrific thing. Tennis is much better. I want to shoot topspin, not bullets. Have a nice day.

Just one link:

This is a link to Russian regional website of Yakutia region (far from Ukraine, close to China and Mongolia, they are Russians, but have typical chinese-like eyes). This is a regional website, not Ukrainian, not Western. Just a small local website. About 2000 Yakutia people were killed on Donbass. Of course, Russian Government did not send them there officially. But you don't have to be really smart to understand that 2000 dead men from Yakutia somehow had to move more than 5000km and never come back home.

If I was going to be very sick somewhere I would rather it be in the us rather than China or Cuba.

The USA and other free market medical systems subsidize the medical research and development for the rest of the world. Pfizer may be a German company but the us market is hugely important to them because we are one of the few places that will pay for what their drugs are worth (as opposed to having a bureaucrat pick a price) and we have the money to pay it.
That’s why it is more expensive here. If the usa goes nationalized health care medical advancement will all but stop. Compare the medical advances made in the USA compared to those made in the Soviet Union from the time of the Bolshevik revolution to now.

Edit: Pfizer is a us company but that doesn’t change the analysis.

You almost made me spill juice all over my keyboard, man. LOL!

They stole English AstraZeneca vaccine. You can find enough info if you want. Don't ask me anything.

You know I'm no fan of your Dear Leader but this does strike me as somewhat implausible. As you may recall AZ suffered a big setback last year when it was found to result in rare blood clots which led several European countries to suspend it. (Of course they did eventually authorize it, but the damage was done.) By contrast Sputnik wasn't linked to similar side effects, which unless I missed anything suggests a different (enough) blueprint.

And V is to my knowledge the only vaccine other than Pfizer and Moderna that has been shown to offer significant (boosted) protection against omicron. That's pretty good, no?

A little intro: when I was a kid we were all grown up being proud of Soviet achievements: in science, in sport etc. I always knew that our scientists are best in the world, that our education system is best, that we were first to fly in space etc. After USSR broke up I had a great disappointment (frustration) learning that almost every single thing I used or was proud of was stolen from Western world. Starting with my dad's car (full copy of Italian Fiat) and my favorite electronic game and finishing with first nuclear bomb and famous gun AK-47 (almost full copy of German gun). You have no idea how powerful KGB spy system was. Spies were everywhere. Just everywhere. And after USSR collapsed former KGB veterans being so proud of themselves started telling stories how everything was done and how important their spy service was for our country. No doubt, our country just passed through the WW2 and we had no time and resources to make our own research and studies. Personally I approve it also - if there is a problem why just not steal it from your enemy/rival?

I know on what level our current medical system and science is. Everybody knows it. Having just so little time to develop and test a vaccine (remember, we are too proud to buy vaccine from China or Western world) we just "borrowed" it from our "English friends". You ask about possible side effects? Man, don't be funny. Even if 10.000 people die from side effects they will just get some other reasons written for death cause. You just can't imagine how our system works. Did you know that in Belarus they did not have any lockdown at all? In 2020 the whole world was on lockdown and they had demonstrations on May 9th (Victory Day on WW2) with crowds on streets.

Will AstraZeneca ever prove that her formulas were stolen? Never. Just read how similar (twin brothers) these vaccines are. They are completely different from one used in China and USA.

Do I personally approve that we stole AstraZeneca formulas? I do. Because we want to live and we want to be protected too.

I am not naive as few "Dunning–Kruger experts" stated above. I am ruthless soulless skeptic cynic pragmatist. And I love tennis. And I want to live in peace. And I want young Russians to play tennis, not throw bombs.

PS: in our childhood we did not have many kids movies. (no HollyWood in USSR). So one of the best kids movies was a sci-fi movie about robots in silver costumes and should-height blonde hair. I was delighted when after USSR broke I learned that 4 years before this kids movie was released there was published an Italian porn movie with events taken place on a spaceship. USSR kids movie director was inspired by Italian porn movie. Voila! :)

When did I say that everything is bad? Do you understand English well? Should I use less complicated sentences and words? I am confused....

Most of technologies are stolen. Is that bad? Well, it depends... Few years ago Putin used Mercedes Benz S car. Now he uses "russian" Aurus car. The motor is a copy of Porsche engine. Is that a smart decision to save years and billions in engine design? Yes. Now he is proud using "russian" car.

Am I negative? No. I am just looking at facts, no matter how good or bad they are.

Well, you can consider that SputnikV was inspired by AstraZeneca.

I am ashamed that my country was and is spending money on military and not on people. This is what I am ashamed of. We have millions of bombs and no public courts around the country. I still doubt that there are more than 20 public courts with nets around 150.000.000 population country.

As i see Sputnik V is based on human adenovirus , and AstraZaneka is based on shepranze adenovirus . So how can you create a copy with different base ? Sun is a newspaper that sued Johnny Depp because of his problems with his wife. Very creditable source of scientific arguments

Vaccine is such a huge business and everyone wants to get their piece . Sputnik V is still not recognized in Europe because of politics. Selling your own vaccines is more profitable i do understand it

Dear doodlyd,

It is a pleasure to talk to you, but you should spend some more time researching and investigating, rather than just reading titles.

Read this article carefully and learn what types of vaccines there are.

AstraZeneca and Sputnik V use same technology (it does not matter what kind adenovirus it uses) and if needed you could create a chicken adenovirus based vaccine. USSR and Russia never make a blind copy of anything - we always do a slight change not to look like fools. And there is always a chance to make a copy even better, correct?

Do I support Putin in stealing AstraZeneca technologies? I fully support him. Look at what happened in Belarus - Lukashenko said that Covid is fake, nobody dies from it and they did not have any lockdown at all. People were dying but nobody cared. Putin would never purchase a vaccine from Western world or China so it was vitally important to make our own vaccine ASAP. We all want to live as much as you want. Our medical science is very bad and if not our spies and hackers we would all die here from Covid. But this fact does not make me blind in understanding of where this vaccine came from.

I wish you and your family all the best. I stop writing on this forum because it takes too much time and efforts. It was a pleasure to practice some English writing and learn some new words (obtuse from Visionary). Be healthy, happy and play tennis. :)

I love this forum and talking English. So a one more message. :) I love Russia. This is my country, my motherland. But am I proud of it? Do I want my children and grandchildren to live here? Do I want to spend rest of my life here? Would you be proud of a country that is very rich but providing bad life for its citizens? Would you be proud for your country killing people? I am a simple guy, with simple needs. I want peace, food, vacations once a year and stability. We don't have it. And I want free public tennis courts for myself and my children. An average salary in my 500.000 city is 22 hours of court rent. That is if I don't eat and sleep on the street. I don't want to sum up everything to money and tennis, it is not just about it. We are a very rich country and we can live a peaceful rich life.

Some more entertaining info for today:

Police colonel (not a very top level of police officer) probably was not polite enough with his boss and they found in his apartment 120 millions USD in cash and 125 millions USD in his sister's apartment. 235 millions in cash. Cash. Are you surpised? I was not surprised at all. :) As I said before, one public court costs about 30.000. So that guy could build 7833 courts. Just one guy. And this is a never ending story.

I love Russia. But I want to love it more. Being peaceful, taking care of citizens, not killing other people.
