Medvedev's statements shock the circuit: "Because of Sinner we all have many very difficult years ahead of us"

After those of Riyadh ("before today I thought that Alcaraz's peak was higher than that of Sinner, but I was wrong") now these statements which come after the eighth defeat in the last 9 played against Sinner (8 consecutive on hard surfaces) , other words from the usually direct Medvedev appear as a sort of threat for the rest of the circuit;

"As I said, a little after Saudi Arabia where he surprised me a lot, I didn't know he had an even higher level. He is perhaps one of the best players I have faced. I faced the Big Four when they were a little more old, and perhaps the speed was not the same.
So yes, I will try to work in the pre-season. Maybe at a certain point he will lose confidence, he will start to miss some balls. Otherwise, everyone – not just me – has very, very difficult years ahead of us because he is very young.”

After the match with Medvedev, Sinner met the current AC Milan coach, the Portuguese Fonseca.

Sinner tells him "thanks for coming" and Fonseca replies almost in a whisper out of modesty "it seems to me that the game was easy"
Big laughs from Jannik who then, to be modest, tells him "when you take a break you immediately relax more"

Med played poorly in the first match and hasnt won titles this year. He can say anything but i feel it was just as much about him declining. Too bad it wasnt a partisan russian crowd.

Medvedev is clearly behind his best versions, yet we are still talking about the current world number 4, and Sinner now mistreats him as if he were an average level player.

He broke him in australia. Wimbledon was more about illness and possibly being distracted off court .. not that that was bad luck as such.

Sinner 2024 and Alcaraz 2024 are better than a player that is a combined version of the best of Medvedev, Zverev, Tsitsipas, Rublev , Ruud, Berretini, Kyrgios .
The only question is how long this streak will last. Can they come back after a major slump or surgery?

Corrected for Medvedev.

Agreed...only took about 7 years for new / young ATG's to take up the mantle from the Big 4.

Had doubts about Alcaraz because of his inconsistency (though he is still very young), but Sinner really seems dialed in and ready to dominate day in day out.

The young Sinner is drilling his volleys and will be an even greater threat. Sinner has gears we have yet to see.
The whiny malcontent Meddy has played the Big Three, including Prime Djoker in 2021, and says Sinner is the highest level of play he's ever seen.

OP must be used to writing tabloid headlines with the way he took the Med quote and made up his own story about the whole tour being shocked.

Fake News! The dude is getting kicked off the tour next year for doping.

Always enjoyed his analysis and as stated before tactically he did the right thing but could not execute it under those circumstances against this Sinner. Alcaraz has been improving this year, despite some losses against weaker players, Djokovic can still come back strong in 2025 and Zverev, Medvedev and Fritz are very dangerous - tennis should be exciting at the top also in 2025.
