There's ZERO chance of Soderling taking a set of Federer. Soderling was pretty mediocre against Montanes. He's not winning on this surface unless the develops a transition game of coming forward and finishing points. His power becomes useless, as the other guy can defend and then get control of the pt eventually.

Even Montanes was able to do that. Fed will do it 20x better, as he has better defense, MUCH better movement and better offense. Plus his serve is on fire. So I don't really believe Fed will come CLOSE to losing a set against Soderling.

Really the only guy who can give some fight to the current Fed is Nadal. But obviously, we don't know whether Nadal will make the final. He's much more vulnerable on these courts, compared to clay or grass.

Melzer obviously deserves his world #15 ranking. He's a good player. This hasn't been a cakewalk for Roger that's for sure.

BUT... it's great for Fed to be challenged a bit going into the final matches.

That is one of the things I like about him. He always takes care to hit the ball directly to them. And sometimes they don't have to move an inch. lol

Yes, through out the years watching Rodge I have noticed that. In mili seconds of reaction time he get it straight to the ball kid. Tonight he tossed the ball to Melzer side ball kid and he only needed to reach out and grab it
