Yep. Who knows? Maybe Fed himself read that thread and decided to give Djoko and Murray a serious beating just for winning another slam ;-)

It would be hilarious if Fed(or any top pro for that matter)was reading this forum. You never know, maybe some of them glanced a few times here.

Best match I've seen live in my life was a Moya-Rochus in a US Open. I'm sure you now understand why... I still think that Rochus is in the top 10 in pure talent... He makes me want to go play now.

Yep. A lot like Sela IMO. Great talent, great ground game, poor serve.

Did you guys see that insane get Blake made on that drop shot in the second game of the 4th set? Man alive are there more than 4 other players on the tour who would have made that get?

BTW this is why the US Open is far and away my favorite slam.. Aggressive Shots and the transition game to net is REWARDED.

I'll leave the Spaniards and Europeans to dirtball on clay for hours to someone else.

although the Madrid semi was a classic.

I agree,USO was always my favourite slam.Surface that can take any playing style but still rewards agressive play more.Plus it's the fastest slam around these days so you see more netplay here compared to any other slam.

Why are the Eurosport commentators autmoatically say James/Robredo will face Federer in the 4th round? Did I miss the Fed/Hewitt match?

Rochus got tired. Losing the 3rd took the air out of him. Once again another early rd match which shows how incredible mens pro tennis is.

To be fair, I felt Rochus was the slightly better player in the 3rd set, and should have won it (although I wanted Blake to win), but he just couldn't convert all the set points he had (about 4 or 5 overall).

I'm not sure if anybody has ever noticed this or mentioned it on these boards, but Murray is fairly annoying.

This Capdeville guy has no weapons at all. He's playing right into Murray's hands, and Murray isn't even playing very well.

Capdeville now seems more relaxed and focused, he's playing some good tennis now, and Murray is playing quite awful atm.

Chucho beat Ferrer?! That's a great effort by him. Monfils is in great form right now though and is looking pretty dangerous.

What's up with Ferrer? He's really going downhill lately. He was playing some amazing tennis in late 2007 but since last year his form has really dropped.

He had some nice performences here and there, and I think he's really good at blowing big leads. He was the one I was counting on to take out Nadal.

I think his lack of weapons is catching up to him, plus he may be starting to lose a little speed which would have a huge impact on his game.

So what is it with you and Nadal getting ousted from the USO early? I know you don't like his game but why where you counting just on ferrer to take Nadal out? Nadal has potential matches with monfils/tsonga or gonzales/or if he goes further murray/delpotro and trust me those aren't easy matches for Rafa on fast HC. Nadal's presence in USO will only help the tournament's appeal. Everybody wants to see fed/murray/nadal/delpo/roddick/djoker matchups. I want the top seeds to go far in the tournament,I certainly don't want to see a repeat of the pathetic situation on the WTA draw in which so many favourites didn't even make second week.

He hit his career peak. It happens to most players at some point in their 10 or so year career, obviously what it is for each differs. Did you really think with his game he was going to stay at around #5 in the World and keep playing at that level.

I'd say his flat FH was a weapon,so was his retunr of serve and quickness around court.

No,but I also didn't expect to see him go out in second round at USO a(although Chucho isn't that easy opponent)and I expected him to still hover around top 15.

Ferrer has at least one good pattern for winning points against nadal (inside out forehand off nadal's forehand). We saw it again in their last match before ferrer retired.

At this point nadal is plenty vulnerable in a way that he was not during the hard court season of last year. But I don't see gonzo or monfils as threats, they are too one-dimensional/predictable imo. But the tsonga matchup is going to be exciting if it happens. I actually hope berdych makes it because nadal needs to play someone who has a good backhand and will force him to keep his cc forehand low. If nadal hits his cc forehand against murray like he did against kiefer that match is not going to be a fun at all.

enough with Fed,now it's time to cheer for the other Swiss, and no it isn't Stan.

Chiudinelli up 3-0 in the second against Davy!!!:D Auf geht's !!!

I hardly watches any matches today. Can someone tell me how Verdasco-Haas and Djokovic-Witten looked?

edit: and Cilic-Levine?

For anyone who cares,Tsonga's through in straights against Benneteau. Was a convincing performance from him as far as I saw.Good to see he's in solid form for USO this year.

Gonzo is up next for Tsonga, will be tough for sure given how Gonzo crushed Berdych today although I'd put still put my money on Jo,we'll se how it will go.
