Mensik is done

Mensik's complete mental collapse against Hanfmann already tells me everything I need to know; Mensik will never win a Slam.

Probably won't even win another Masters before his career is done.

Furthermore, he has no weapons in his arsenal, and he's too tall and too lightweight to do any real damage on the court.

His serve is perhaps a bit above average, but his groundstrokes laughable compared to the real heavy hitters on the tour.

I foresee a career path similar to post 2006 Roddick for him; marginal success on fast surfaces, none elsewhere.

Sampras couldn’t win more than a quarterfinal at RG ever. Ever. He was a very poor player for an ATG,

He still cleaned up at the USO and WB.

Wait and see.

Not writing him off but not ready to crown either him or Draper. At this time next year if both fail to defend the large amount of points they got (USO SF/IW champ and Miami champ) they’re dropping significantly.

It’s like what medvedev and djokovic said about players ranked through say 100-150. Maybe even lower.
Talent is there to win matches or get hot and beat opponents to obtain top 100 ranking, top 50 or 30. But consistency : guys fall off and that’s what separates the top 10 from the 100-200 atp ranking and always floating between qualies to get in 250 , 500, and 1000 draws.

how are we predicting 19 yr olds futures with all of our infinite internet wisdom? these posts are crazy to me sorry. i get we like to discuss tennis but he just won a 1000. so you’re either going to be incredibly right 15 yrs from now or wrong. idk what kind of a hot take this could be, bc he lost a 3 setter at 19? come on dog

yep. You get nothing for being right or wrong.
Unless you gloat like some people.

I try not to overreact to losses after big title wins nor project someone to be great after winning a big title. Consistency is the recipe that just needs to happen.

A meaningless snall event where the final score was 6 3 to the opponent. Mensik didnt even serve for the match or lead by a set and 2 breaks
Pointless thread imho. Sinner and alcaraz have had losses like this too.
