MEP is back !!!!!

Hey if you're having fun playing tennis and get some pocket money to buy balls/strings, it's a great win. Plus most ppl would love the opportunity to be coached by an ATP player or get to play vs. college players.

Exactly. Several years back I was making a little money and getting some free tennis stuff through an Instagram account, but had some issues there so shut that down. It was awesome...and all I had to do was play tennis.

Ask Matty ( @MaxTennis ) about YT fame, and I am sure he has had some great opportunities through tennis with it too.

It’s cool to hear when people say they love the videos my dad and I have filmed but I also want to hear known for more outside of YouTube haha, so it’s a mixed bag!

They obviously didn't want to watch that hence the numbers. The sponsors didn't like it either.
Since MEP's videos came last on that channel I pretty much doubt they were the downfall of the channel. I even doubt the low numbers for his own video were MEP's fault.

The algorithm is merciless and the channel was already lacking views for some time.

That's a false premise as numbers don't lie and subsequently the content didn't appeal. That's a fact.

Recreational 4.0 hacking tennis is unattractive = proven hypothesis.

Comprehension is obviously not your thing.
It isn't yours apparently, since you wrote several non-sequiturs to my post.

Also you showed ignorance about how YouTube works, implying content is what brings views lmao, an opinion so naive I can only chuckle.

But just to finish for today, I don't think I have seen a 4.0 play on the Real Tennis channel so your last statement doesn't really hold. Perhaps you confused their content with some of your match videos.

@GSG does not get credit for his Michael Chang-like tree trunk quads.
That alone is one reason you're better than 99% of club tennis players

See 1:36 of MEP vs Real Tennis (Match 3 - Part 2)

How many 4.0s have they had on the channel I wonder? You are (or should be) well aware both GSG and most of his previous opponents are 4.5 rated, so it seems odd to start with the "recreational 4.0" premise, when that cannot result in any sound conclusions due to fruit of the poisoned tree.

Seems quite reasonable to request the premise since the statement directly above from @Daniel Andrade contained several possibilities.

Comprehension is obviously not your thing.
Wouldn't it be easier to clarify by simply answering his question?

Irrespective of how you package it, if the channel produced content people wanted to consume it would have attracted more viewers/ subscribers & sponsors. That's simple market economics.

This was not the case, hence my challenging the premise of blaming an algorithm designed to proliferate content.

This is a nice way of saying ... the host / owner is annoying and people don't like him

Nonsense, its a logical evidenced based argument.

I'd be surprised if Youtube designed an AI algorithm that did anything but proliferate user generated content to viewers most likely to consume it.

I cant find any of your own match videos or are you another 'Hall of Flame' blowhard that doesn't post any?

Lmao "A logical evidenced based argument" that goes against the evidence on how YouTube virality works.

I have posted several videos here, I have no issue practicing to improve long term.

Have you posted your tennis videos?

I wanna see some of that "fulfilled" potential.

I don't see anything under Jono123 either.
Sometimes you have to search that thread based on username, since not everyone has @onehandbh update the alphabetical listing (which is entirely reasonable).

No, he has posted before, usually under a specific thread. Here's one:

There are more, but imo this is only going to make things worse since it appears most attempts at a "good faith" conversation have gone out the window. I for one do not want to see this thread nuked, since for the most part it has been entertaining, and people should be able to disagree without insulting each other.

True. I remember that one as I commented on his 'technique'.

No match play though or anything of substance yet plenty to say on the forums.

over the years I have figured out many players like this.

the number 1 key is just patience.

e.g. MEP, but many pushers are similar... they have nothing to hurt you, if you don't give them a target.

there is no better feeling in tennis, than knowing that the other guy has nothing to hurt you.

control the middle, rip to the corners, big targets... don't miss, let him run.
You are totally right in your approach, “patience” is the key.
Also, not to get distracted by the ****ty stroke production.
My mental set up before a match with this type of player is like going to the dentist, I know that is going to hurt.
Is it worth it to face such a painful experience? Probably the answer is YES

What do you consider painful about playing against this style?
  • You have to hit a lot more shots
  • You have to generate your own pace
  • You have to hit many shots on the move/run
Isn‘t it going to make you play more tennis shots, hit powerful shots against someone who is unable to reciprocate and get more exercise? What is painful about this?

That you play more against yourself than against the opponent.

I found it odd that a tennis coach would champion a player(GSG) who doesn't take lessons and is essentially self-taught.
Would have been cool if he could have coached Seirea to defeating GSG through technical improvements to show that lessons can actually help and that diligent practice works but the logistics would have been impossible.

I thought the host and production quality were both pretty good. Its the concept /focus that let it down IMO
If he talked about how to make hundreds of thousands teaching tennis or the financial aspect it would probably be popular. We humans have insatiable greed. titles like: How I Became A Millionaire by targeting middle-aged, out of shape tennis enthusiasts or How I Made My First Million via tennis events. lololol

I guess its hard to produce content that is both different and appealing. The tennis troll thing was unique but advocated the type of tennis many find unattractive..

I would rather see someone like MEP /Hassaan acquire more offensive weapons to complement their playstyle. That would be worth watching.

agreed with ppma's answer.

It comes down to facing our own inadequacy when we're not ready to.

Many of us are just too comfortable in our delusion, and it ain't comfortable when we have to face reality.

Very true. Players like MEP are 4.5 gatekeepers.

That would have made an interesting narrative.

I remmber this now! I never connected the two, he does have the hit, then wait 1 second, then grunt, for no apparent reason since he isn't exerting himself physically at all.

hit.....wait......wait for it....wait.....uGHGGGHHHHHNNNG
