MEP vs MEP clone !!!

It will not be interesting.

You won't see any cat and mouse game, or any long points. Or, MEP doing much.

Max's level is too much for him. Most shots will be out of MEP's timely reach, and MEP will screw up or pop the ball out.

Blue shirt did that with MEP a few times. It's not interesting at all.

What would be interesting is a match between those claiming 4.5 in this place and MEP. :)

I can guarantee you that if this match happens, there will be no rallies over 6 shots.

I'll either have hit a winner or an unforced error by then lol

It's funny how people can't see that the difference in level is so high that you'd just oblirate him out of the court.

I won't comment on the expected result, but with my go-for-broke style of play, we definitely won't be having many long rallies.

My friend Abhi in this video has a lower UTR than @GSG and I do lose to him here, but as my buddy recording it says: "Not a lot of grinding here" :-D

:) 6 shots is still heavily in your favor.

Even in ATP, average num is way less. See below. :)

I played with a friend. She couldn't believe I would "destroy" her in 4 shots or less. (When I return serve I have only 3 ground strokes left). Granted she's probably 3.0 or 3.3 at best but she plays very well in doubles. :) It was a lot of fun.

I don't know what kind of game should make you (Max) and MEP competitive, ie trying very hard every point. Maybe doubles court area for him?

--------
On average, Djokovic is playing slightly longer points than Nadal (4.8 to 4.7 shots/point), with Federer more than a shot less at 3.6 shots per point.

Rally lengths of 0-4 shots are the most common, on average, and occur about 70% of the time (on both the male and female circuits).

Another way to make the Max match more interesting: no slicing allowed for Max. No matter how low MEP's shot bounces, Max has to somehow get it back over the net with a topspin shot. No "out-mepping the MEP". Max must win using the power game only. Geez I'm running out of ideas here.

That would be interesting, although to be honest, I don't slice my backhand as often as I should for a one hander.

My natural game is aggressive baseliner, so that's kind of how I play already. It might actually be more interesting if I had to junk him and grind as well. Or if I had to serve and volley since that isn't my natural style.

Have you seen the shot quality of 5.0s in the tennis troll channel? There's a reason why troll does not feature MEP against 5.0s - many big differentials between however good 4.5 and 5.0. We are not talking about a star 4.5 on the way to become a 5.0 - but someone who "struggles" against 4.5 though manages to eke out a W each time.

Ain't Troll himself a 5.0? Wasn't he the original person to introduce green shirt guy to the world?

Ooohhhh I like this response. (y)

I'm no @AnyPUG but I would Don King you (GSG) vs Max where Max gives you 30-0 every game. Are you confident with this? GSG

I'll just respond generally since I don't have much information on this specific matchup: with that kind of advantage, I'm confident I could win at least a set off the average USTA 5.0 in a given match.

A 30-0 lead in each game is a pretty significant advantage and I tend to make a lot of errors LOL, so @GSG definitely has a fighting shot if we were to play under these terms.

Breaking news: POMO is back!

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I want to see a POMO-GSG match.

@bigservesofthands

If GSG and I were to ever play the match it will be even shorter and even more on my racquet than MaxTennis. I play extreme first strike.

Right now for liability reasons I am allowed to play only against a ball machine. For me to take part in situations where liability can be properly waived ahead of time, I need a few things to occur.

1. I need some protection of the intellectual property I am creating. To be on the safe side I won't be able to use some the new techniques that I do not want to show the world yet. I would use previous generation of Po*Mo and only stock equipment. I would not want high speed video of my strokes to be taken.

2. For the style that I play to be properly demonstrated I need to calibrate strokes for every opponent ahead of time, especially when you have not played the person before. Since it is not fair to expect GSG to be a practice punching bag for a little while before the match for me to hone my stokes, what I would need is good analytics on one GSG match. So ATP level telemetry of common stokes like serves and return of serve for one match or at least Playsight telemetry and video of one match so I can simulate GSG using the specialized programmable ball machine that I use. I expect professional tennis to move in this direction rapidly like chess has for a long while. Tennis is about matchups. You train for your opponent.

Yeah, not gonna lie. I would be pretty bored watching a match where every rally is one shot that ends in either a winner or a ball into the fence.

Wake me up when we get to match point o_O

Sure. The Tennis Troll channel on Youtube has several of his matches. We'll give you a month.
And remember to paint the top of your ball machine in green.

Speaking of go for broke, I'd like to challenge Maxtennis' title as the king of ending points early. I played this set last year and had ONE rally last 8 shots. Or so.

I'd like to hit with Max10s someday, we have similar attacking games, he's younger.. faster.. and better looking. We need a trophy commemorating any rally that goes longer than 5 shots

Let's do it! Hit me up if you're ever in SoCal :)

Yo, don't take this the wrong way, but at first, I didn't recognize you in this video haha. I remember your other videos and you definitely look more Chinese in the other ones than this one, if that makes any sense. I thought you were a white dude here. It wasn't until the dog got on the court and you turned around that I could tell haha.

Might be the lighting, but great hitting still man!

Lol, you remember my other videos?! The OG Matt Lin recognizes a youtube schlub?! Sick! I moved to Atlanta and started binging chick-fil-a. Or has the shirt dyed into my skin? But you're right, no self respecting Chinese will let his waistline go like this lolol

Yeah, I think you commented on the tennistim video where I was playing him and we've interacted a few times haha.

It might be the haircut tbh. Like, in this video you posted, it's definitely an Asian guy haircut. Also, you were more tan in this video than the one on TennisTroll's channel hehe.

LOL. And asian physique, it's nice being <210lb. I had another video playing some baselines vs UWisc #1 and I had a Kim Jung Un haircut. 100% a reflection of my barbers-man-ship. Definitely Asian hair.

That set was filmed right before I had my kid, speaking of being pretty on or off, I was playing clean that day, my partner was on the Estonian national team and played for a NYC Uni, gave him an NYC styled bagel (of course I lost the match overall lol)

Congrats on the kid man! Yeah, that's more important than tennis now haha

If you're ever in LA, hit me up. I'll do the same if I ever come out to Atlanta :)

2 kids now. I think I'm a so-cal guy in spirit, but somehow ended up on the wrong coast..grr parents. Man that video really took me down memory lane, haven't watched it in a while, holy s I was fit. Got a lot more 'weight' of shot now. Actually that probably hasn't changed much but I definitely can't defend like I used to.

I know Kourts is based out of LA, I'm building a competitor product, so if it ever takes off and I can do a hostile takeover of Kourts, we'll be hitting on some courts in Santa Monica

That's awesome man! Once things settle down, you can get back to training :)

Yeah, Santa Monica has some dope courts. All of the West Side basically. That would be fun to hit there.

Get a room, geeez!!

I watched the last part of this match on YT. It devolved from a tennis match into a starring match. It ceased being 4.5 level tennis and turned into something lower than pushing, which I didn't know was possible. Guys were hitting shots then WALKING back to their neutral position. Tough to watch. I understand wanting a W, but damn that was brutal.

On an indoor court I think Gregory Diamond would beat him easily because he is very consistent and has good placement. Plus lobs cannot be very high and no wind. Outdoors might be a different story.

Despite GD's bizarre logic of why a 2HFH is superior, he's got an excellent game with very accurate GSs. While he's never posted a video of him playing a pusher, I suspect he'd know how to handle one.

Do my odds against @GSG go up or down if I play two hands on both sides?

That’s actually one of my options to try to make my forehand as compact as possible, ie keep the left hand on the throat of racket until I start the forward swing. In other words if a normal forehand is 25% two handed, I’ll make it 50% two handed.

Yeah, it forces you to lead your take back with the hip and shoulder rotation.

It's worth a try.

The more you're able handle/attack low-bouncing balls and weak lobs, the better you'll do, because that's all you will receive from him.
He'd be a much more dangerous player if he added topspin shots to his arsenal, but I don't think he's willing nor able to learn new techniques at this point. Look at the video of the Crunchtime coach trying to teach him a proper serve technique (lol), and look how much he changed his technique after the lesson (hint: it's 0%).

But dealing with drop shots and lobs doesn’t seem like GD’s strength, due to his energy-conserving approach of skipping the split step. I’m leaning toward GSG as the favorite here due to athleticism edge.
