Ear cupping for me. This one is an expection to the rule, though:

Quoting so more posters can relive this iconic celebration lol

I may well be in a nursing home (I am 24) by the time another French guy wins another 1000 (not even talking about a slam).... And that might be too optimistic.

Decades of history for one ****ing slam and a handful of 1000s....

Can't believe I thought Fils was a lock to win this match....
Same here after his performance in Duai against tiny I thought it would be a routine. But I like anyone who has the game now Jiri, Landaluce, Fons. Just need 2 more to challenge the duopoly. Will have to watch the highlights.

Hope Alcaraz is motivated and healthy for clay season. Otherwise we’re going to see peak Federer levels of dominance from Sinner, without the entertainment.
He'll be ready he always is. Not sure what his issue is with Miami since he won it, but hopefully he can turn it around there again one day.

He has the charisma of a cardboard box and walks like an 80 year old, why wouldn't people find him boring
It's actually hard to have more charisma than coming on court, kicking ass without making any fuss about anything else but the game itself and leaving it to the opponents to create other theaters because they might need it to shine.

Sinner and Alcaraz are both interesting. Both are "nice guys", only that one is introverted and the other rather extroverted. None is better or worse than the other, and both their behaviours have a strong aura.

If he loses his serve here, it's because of the ear cupping.
Heh, heh, Divine retribution?
He’s like an asymptote, drawing ever closer, yet never quite reaching the line.
Man, gem of a comment. Could be quoted for all dudes that reach the threshold but never walk through the door.
AZ tries hard, but seems unable to defeat his demons when needed, despite playing superbly of recent.

As anticipated, Jannik through in straights. In response to the tough loss at the AO, dude has settled into his game and will likely clinch the Sunshine Double, whilst forging a record of most consecutive matches won at Masters level. The quality/level of his game is consistently outstanding, his ability to keep emotions in check, admirable.

Fils/Lehecka was a damp squib of an encounter. AF compromised possibly because of the high energy qf and also because of the strategy / execution of JL's game. Superb stuff from JL, showing his best skills with finesse. Anticipating a good match with Jannik if he maintains the level of the sf, likely though that it'll be a straight sets win by JS to clinch the title. Can JL show otherwise?

Sinner morning routine:
Wake up: 20 fistpumps in front of mirror, a new day, lets hit more aces.
Make coffee: 5 fistpumps, great coffee.
Arrive at tennis court: 10 fistpumps, sunny day, great for practice.
Put on new shoes: 5 fistpumps.

Sounds class to be fair

Just out of curiousity I looked up the James Blake vs Wawrinka h2h 3 & 0 for Stan. Not getting a wild card now makes sense.:-D

Not only does his on court demeanour resemble a cyborg, but his game just isn't visually appealing. Just looks like 4 gangly limbs awkwardly flailing around, whacking the ball at full power. It is what it is.
His shots are certainly visually appealing. A spectacular winner is a spectacular winner; at that point, I don't care about the bodily kinetics that produced it. I do agree that Sinner, though fast and powerful, is not what anyone would call elegant. But few players are. And in his match against Big Foe, Sinner looked like Adriano Panatta by comparison.

Sinner is gonna win the Sunshine Double without breaking a sweat. Alcaraz needs to advance to every final to make this tour interesting because everybody in the last two years outside of a few guys zoning are Sinner's pigeons. Incredibly boring stuff

This is spot on. Sinner is the new Djokovic with his robotic baseline game and high level consistency. It takes an all time talent with creative genius like Alcaraz/Federer to take him down. I wish Alcaraz was more consistent because his game is far more entertaining to watch and is a better representative of tennis on a global basis. Federer and Alcaraz have that Messi level genius that transcends the sport.

Lehecka hasn’t dropped serve once this tourney. That is incredible. Sinner has held serve 98.0% of the time this tourney and 97.2% of the time during this Sunshine Double.

What would be insane is if Lehecka ended up holding serve 100% of the time for this tourney, yet end the tourney as the runner-up. I could see this happening. He might lose 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 with 0 breaks of serve in this match.

Agreed with all that but I think Alcaraz has been really consistent the last full year but something about The Sunshine double has been a weak spot for him the last two years. It's at that time of the calendar after the AO and before clay season when he hasn't had a complete focus in recent years plus his game tends to peak and valley moreso on hard courts than the other two surfaces specifically these two events and late year indoor hard courts.

No chance, Sinner will break him at least 3-4 times. This has something like 6-3, 6-2 written all over it.

Charisma is about doing stuff with a flair, 1000s of players have to court kicked ass without fuss and walked away. We are not talking about it.

Sinner will win his first 3 slam season, while Alcaraz will have his worst year since 2021. Next year he will rehire Ferrero.
These takes are so funny. Alcaraz wins the Australian Open and completes the career grand slam, while Sinner loses in the SF - Sinner is finished, Alcaraz to win the calendar year GS. Carlos loses in IW & Miami after his best ever start to a season - he is Finnish, Sinner will win everything now.

:-D
