Miami seed collapse

So many top seeds seem to have fallen by the wayside this year in Miami!

So far Federer, Nadal, Murray, Wawrinka, Ferrer, Tsonga in the men's. Serena and Radwanska in the women's.

At this rate will Djokovic and Azarenka have anybody left to play in the final?
No.

It doesn't matter. The future of tennis is Thiem powerhouse , kickass Nick and Zverev Angel. Everyone else is becoming has been fast. DF Diminova and bionic limp-man are no match for the King!!!

Weird indeed. Murray's case, I honestly felt it was a tank job. So many uncharacteristic UE's and that collapse in third set after having the lead. May be it is because of the terrible playing conditions. Wouldn't be surprised to see Novak out too tomorrow. Great tournament for the youngsters

So on the men's side we have to endure another boring Djokovic win and on the women's side we most likely have to endure having our ear drums ruptured?

Fantastic

Anything is better than Daddray against Djoko in the final. Let's wait for Clayray.

Djoko's half may look a bit bleak, but possible SF with on fire Goffin is not bad who took a set from Djoker last summer. Thiem match will keep the Djoko's entertained though I must admit Berdy/Gasquet clash a bit of a yawn (hoping Gasquet.) Pouille may upset the apple cart if he keeps rolling so really some nice matches in the top half left outside of the Djoko QF. (And if Thiem beats Djoko tennis is saved.)

The bottom half is quite interesting except for the Kukuskin push. Sock could roll and would be a very worthy finalist if he plays well enough to do it. Kyrgios would be great for sure. Many fine matches in the way for these two.

This is a great tournament despite Fed and Rafa pretty much no showing.

I'd have thought it most likely the most interesting clash of the 4th rounds in the top half:

- Goffin should beat Zeballos easily.
- Neither Simon nor Pouille is so high profile, and Simon isn't that interesting to watch, except against a power player.
- For all Thiem's promise, expecting him to push Djokovic on hard courts is expecting a lot. Were it clay, it might well be a different story.

They said the same thing about Nishioka when he played Zeballos at the start of the tournament and we all know what happened then!

You mean Del Potro, right?

Sure, his best level is a lot better than anything we've seen from Goffin. But Del Potro is on his way back from injury. Goffin just made the semis at Indian Wells and just demolished the world #21 for the loss of two games. Goffin is playing at a consistently high level. Del Potro is not.

No I was making a joke about how Zeballos lost at the beginning of the tournament.

Sour grapes taste sour, hum? ;)
Djoko is the greatest player that ever lived. About as boring as watching Van Gogh paint. Genius at work! (The real one, not the Swiss fraud)

Oh, right. Got it. You know, I find the practice of having lucky losers in a tournament where there are byes rather unfair. Zeballos came right in at the second round stage. Even if he had beaten Nishioka, he probably wouldn't have made the second round. (Well, if he'd drawn Donaldson, he might well have done, I suppose).

Not to mention it was a really bad joke.

Well literally, there will be someone for them to play. However, a top ranked player doesn't seem so likely. Then again, you're assuming they both reach the final, which given the conditions (warm and extremely humid) in Miami, as well as how many seeds have metaphorically crashed and burned as of late, that doesn't seem like a safe bet or guarantee. I fully expect Djokovic to be there, but Azarenka I'm less certain of.

Probably should have put it this way: "Everyone fully expected Zeballos to come through in his match against Nishioka, and look how that turned out?"

Then again, things seemed to have worked out well for Zeballos, he got in as a lucky loser by virtue of Federer's withdrawal, and now he's in the Round of 16 after two quality wins against Del Potro and Verdasco. I expect Goffin to take him out, however, it wouldn't surprise me one bit, if he found a way to grind his way to a victory against Goffin. The seeds are dropping like flies in the hot Miami sun so far. ;)

Thiem LOL. Djokovic will smoke him 6-2 6-2.
I do not think Thiem is ready for the big guys.

Not that he does not have the potential but he needs to get a little bit more experience playing with the big guys.

Let's see how he will perform in the clay season, perhaps he will win his first ATP 1000?

:D

I have never seen a Miami masters like this year. Federer and nadal withdrew themselves due to injuries.Wawrinka is always inconsistent. But, what happened to murray? I won't wonder if djokovic meets a player in the final that is out of top 20.Really, Miami, 2016 got collapsed.

It 's called "change of guard". We all knew the big 4 were on their last legs... Look for new players to do well this season

Look, do not count Dominic out. He has a great Thiem behind him! In is victory speech, he will be sure to thank his parents, coach and all the other members of his Thiem :D

The seeds losing is great! Tennis has been stale lately.

If only Djokovic could lose and bust this tournament wide open.

That's what I've been waiting for. It's getting old seeing him win everything these days. Not that I have anything against him, I actually admire his dedication and his insane ability on the court, but just for the sake of variety, I want to see someone else win.

Berdy vs Gasquet is a great match. The winner vs Djoko will be a yawn.

Thiem vs Djoko will be a nice scouting for clay and should have some really nice play. Pouille was very entertaining against Ferrer and expect a similar match with Simon and possibly Goffin. He'll probably fizzle, but if he doesn't look out!

That would be awesome. He's played them all and the only one that has owned him badly is Fed and Thiem did well in the 2nd set. Thiem's on the cusp so don't miss tomorrow's match!
