More than likely it is because of what happened at the USO last year and Djokovic is "persona non grata" in the USA right now. Plus, the top 2 seeds almost always split their playing time to get maximum TV exposure. And the Williams sisters are always going to get a night match, because they are American and the #1 seed. The most viewed time on Saturday is the 1pm slot, then comes the late night slot. Thus, it will be Fed at 1, Murray late night. With the mid-afternoon match being the Women's Final.

We are talking about Friday, not Saturday and WSs are not going to play the same day, so your analysis is flawed.

So maximum TV exposure is on Friday 1pm. Yeah right.

And also because of what happened on USO he would be hassled by US tournament organizers for the rest of his career. Seems hardly fair.

As I said I do not recall a semis match starting this early. This is Masters event? I cannot even watch it now. Some ppl actually work, or do they think in USA that only rich ppl should watch tennis or something.

I must say I have never seen the doubles match being second. Whatever the reason is for this, it is completely unusual. They always put the doubles first and then the 2 semis in singles. Puzzling.

1pm?

Djokovic didn't play a single night match in Miami, unlike everyone else.
maybe that;s good for him to get him prepared. Haven't been seeing the matches, but he did beat JWT right ? So he should have a fair chance against Fed.
At his level, Novak really has to be prepared for all kinds of weather. Nadal and Fed have no/less issues with heat.

You obviously didn't follow this closely.
Novak did beat Tsonga, but had health problems (stomack, breathing, ... not quite sure what exactly was) towards the end of the match. He was already a set and a break up and managed to squeeze two holds he needed to win. He barely finished the match.

It is unfortunate if they are really scheduling purposely to hurt Djokovic's chances. If that is the case is that because certain powers-that-be dont like him, or that they like Federer so much?

I cant believe they've scheduled the match at 1pm, in the hottest heat. Its seems to obvious they are trying to rip apart Novak's chances against Federer, this is truly unbelievable.

Now I hope that Nole comes out with complete anger at the tournament directors and absolutly dismantles Federer in two sets. This is so absurd.

The organisers made the schedule at what time the semis are played before the tournament started and regardless of who plays in it.
Imagine if Murray/Verdasco would have lasted untill 1-2am.Do u think they would have put Murray to play Del Potro at noon.I don`t think so.
So the players who had the day off have to play the first match which i think it`s fair

Djokovic played Matthieu at night right..?

Only Djokovic match that would really have been worth posting for a night slot since on center would have been vs Tsonga but Fed/Roddick was obviously a much bigger draw, particularly for a US crowd.

yep, i watched most of the second set, at one point after novak got the ball from the ball kid to start serving, when he was bouncing, i saw him lose his balance, and after long points, he was visibly breathing heavily, id have to say novak was very lucky to finish the match in straights thanks to tsonga being extra erratic- had he just kept more shots in, we could be talking differently.

anyways looking forward to a good match, its been a long time since federer and novak last played.

1 p.m. huh...I really hope Djokovic is up to it. If these breathing problems become a regular occurance, maybe he should think about a different line of work, because he's not going to win many tournaments if he can't stand the heat.

Lol,nice work :).Looking forward to a great match, hope the fact that it's a day match won't hurt Novak.I think his problem against Tsonga was that his stomach hurt and not the heat so I hope it all goes well and they give us an entertaining match.

Its a hard match to call. Neither player is playing great if you ask me. It all depends on the first set I think. If Novak wins the first set, even if its a close one, then he'll gain confidence, start thumping his chest in the second and glaring at the crowd while Federer will oblige by spraying his shots all over.

If not, then Djokovic will develop a health problem and Roger will win in 1.25 to 1.5 sets.

If both of them want this badly, then we might see a third. Fans want a third!

It will be too hot for Djoker, the sun will be in his eyes, there will be some distracting birds chirping, his calf will ache, he'll get a tummy ache, and he'll lose in straights.

WTF 1pm..unbeliveable. Djokovic then only has a chance to win in 2. Three sets are too much for him on this conditions...

Fed has h2h advantage.
Fed has better results overall this year.
Fed is in better current form.
If the match isnt at night Djoker will retire.

Fed in 3.

Hopefully it will be a good match and no tennis fan would like to see a withdrawal during the match. As long as it`s a good match no matter if it`s in 2 or 3 we should be happy.Hopefully the wind will be ok so we don`t see a match decided by who makes the fewest errors caused by the wind but who makes winners at the crucial moments
