micro rad mp vs pacific xforce ?

look to have similar specs, anyone make a comparison re power? What have others done when looking for just a bit more power than micro rad. No lead tape as it changes the feel to me too much..

I own the x force (main stick) and played 3 or 4 times with the radical Youtek non IG.
Control: pacific 8.5 / Rad 9.0
Power: pacific 8.0 / Rad 7.0
Comfort: pacific 9.5 / Rad 8.5
Maneuv: both 9.5
Stability: pacific 8.25 / Rad 8.0
Constant taper goes great with the pacific and lead tape is welcome in the pacific hoop, but no more than 6 gr. otherwise get boardy and stiff.
My setup is 5 grams of lead in 3-9 and 5 gr of silicone in the buttcap, sweet weapon for a 4.0 recreational player in the early 40's!!!!

I've hit with the X Force Pro (I like heavier racquets). I thought it was comfortable and had great control. Compared to other racquets I tried, the thing that stood out was the feel. It had pretty good pop, too.

I am the 4.0 rec player at same age. Had made the move to Prestige S but just a bit too heavy in second set (weighs 11.6 with og and damp) and the pattern is just too open. So moved back to my rad..but wanted slighly more open pattern and a bit more pop and a slightly lower sw with similar feel - x force seems to fit bill. I play the rad with MCS at 52# and the Prestige S with FXP Tour 53#. What set up for your x-force. Funny, just the slightest lead it hoop for rad makes way stiff and boardy..what is your second fav stick?

Multis or gut is what I like for the x force. At this moment using pacific premium power x 16 and it is fine. For more pop Tecnifibre NRG o gut. My second favorite stick is the BLX six one team (16x18) and my classic favorite is Pro Staff Classic 6.1 (Edberg) i still enjoy a lot playing a set with it, but too heavy (345 gr. unstrung).

One more advice: the x force is very versatile for customize and somewhat tension and string sensitive, I will take a while until you develop the best version for you. Be patient. Good Luck!

What have others done when looking for just a bit more power than micro rad.

Been looking for that for a couple years. Here's what I found:

---Micro rad with 18g poly at 50lbs to open up that tight string pattern, I cross with syn gut at 54. Also, I agree lead at 12 or 3&9 changes the feel a lot but for me 4" lead at 10 & 2 and the same amount in the butt really did not change the feel at all, except to make it more solid and get balls deeper. This def. helped me get more spin, depth and pop than stock but still very low powered compared to any tweener.

If you only need a bit more power you can get it with strings and weight. I tried at least 40 other frames and never found anything that played like the MG Rad but with more power. They were either much heavier or had less control. I ended up with an APD which spec-wise is completely different but was the only thing I found that gave me the same type of uber-control as the rad but with more power (much). It requires a spinnier stroke but once I got used to it I felt the same degree of control with tons more pop.

Having said that, it is stiff and doesn't feel great and I am looking for something that feels better but plays as good. I guess my point is, you might have to try different specs to get what you're looking for. I searched the world for a slightly more powerful MG Rad and did not find it!

funny..liking apdc (non-gt) what are you doing for stings and tension on yours?

I found the APDC to not be very string sensitive (although a control oriented string is probably better). I started with SPPP 16 at 57 lbs which played fanatstic (tons of spin and control) but felt pretty stiff. Eventually I started trying to make it feel less stiff and dropped SPPP to 50 lbs. still played well. Then tried a hybrid of SPPP/ Prince Syn Gut Duraflex 17 at 50/57 also played great but still stiff. I ended up with BHBR 16/Forten Sweet 17 natural at 48/54, which is quite a bit softer and still plays great.

Having said that, after about 2 years I am really worn out from the stiffness (I play way too much also) so I've been playing with the MG Rad again! I string with Wilson Enduro 18g poly/Forten Sweet 17 natural at 52/54. I have ~5g at 10/2 and the same in the butt, 337g. Plays great, excellent control, decent stability and touch, and good depth/net clearance, and still swings very easy.

Regarding the MG Rad with more power, I am about to try the Becker London. Slightly heavier and stiffer than the Rad and 16x19. I'll report back.

I could not get along with London, try prestige s. I played one all summer. Nice. My tennis elbow is acting up and wanted to try larger grip. My friend had some old apdc 1/2..so giving them a whirl. Going to string with mcs @ 57 and see if I can keep it in without having to go too windshield on the forehand. I also played the xforce and is definitely worth a try as well. Deepening on how I end with apdc, xforce with leather grip and some lead in head could be the answer.

Completely agree re the x force pro. Great frame imo.
