Microgel Prestige Mid ends the quest.

I've been looking, demoing, etc. for quite a while now for a stick similar to my favorite racket of all time - the Head Graphite Pro from the mid to late 80's. The new Microgel Prestige Mid is damm close.

Can say I almost love the racket. Everyone was telling me mids are a thing of the past and it was time to move on. I tried all the suggestions and I just didn't get it.

This racket has it all. Incredible power and deadly slice at the net. Great top spin and range. Solid feel and less flex which seems to be the de jur of rackets of late. Perfect balance in the hand.

Only thing I don't dig is the handle shape, but I can deal with that.

So anyone looking for a stick similar to the Head Graphite Pro, or even the old Head Graphite Edge, give the Microgel Prestige Mid a go. You might be stoked.

Thanks Head.

I've been demoing the MG Prestige Mid this last week and love it! I'm coming from the Wilson K90, the Prestige has almost the same weight, plowthrough and accuracy, but much easier to deal with. Great racket! I may have to buy one (or two). :)

Gut would be cool, but just can't justify the cost right now. So I had mine strung with an old favorite, Prince Top Spin at 59 lbs. I'm sure some of you are laughing but I really like the string. It doesn't break and wear as fast in a denser string pattern and smaller head size at higher lbs.

There are a ton of string choices these days.

If you want a gut feel, try Pro Supex Maxim Touch. It cost about 6 bucks a string, and plays like gut, but lasts longer, and doesn't lose its tension as quick.

Hey Storm,

Yeah, swingweight of 340 (K90) vs. 323 for the Prestige - doesn't sound like much but makes a big difference! I also really like the balance of the Prestige, just feels "right" somehow. Even though it is head light (7 pts I think), it just feels balanced in the air. I'm having a great time with overheads and serving. The K90 was so heavy, I had to have a perfect service motion to keep that 13 oz moving in the right direction. I didn't really have problems with the headsize, but did have trouble getting all that swingweight around fast enough against higher level players (4.5+). I'm gonna try the KBlade Ktour and the ProKennex Redondo just for the heck of it - that will cover them all (I'm still demoing the KTour (Djoko racket) and the KBlade 98 ). KTour is very accurate, but a little too low powered on serve. The Prestige seems to have plenty of punch both serving and on ground strokes. Nice piece of equipment!

Top!

I've been playing with the Head Microgel Prestige Mid for over a month now. All I can say, It's IT. Once again, thanks Head, you got it right.

Got rid of that Hydrosorb grip (Why does it come stock with this racket?) and went with the bab leather. Jeez, Bab leather is OK, but I miss those old leather grips from Head or Fairway grips. Rounded out the handle with electrical tape (Yes, it works just fine) and WaLaa, It's almost Heaven.

Still believe the graphite rackets of the late 1980's are the best formulated rackets ever.

If your looking at the Microgel Prestige line, buy the mid pronto! You'll end up appreciating the game, your abilities, and life so much more.

Cheers Head :)

Now you just need to buy Kswiss, make them a bit more comfy with a larger foot bed, and you'll dominate. Throw in some Lacoste styling, come up with a new brand name signature line, and your making dinero.

Hi, can i join in here cause it's exactly happened for me too. I have 2 MG Prestige MP and added lead tape at handle and 3, 9 to bring it up to 12.5 oz. Last week i went to my local tennis shop to re-string the racquets and i saw that beauty hanging on the wall, liked it was....... watching me. I turned my head and my eyes were caught by its...... Anyway to make it short, i bought it and had it strung with Luxilon Timo 17g at 54 lbs. After warming up for about 15 minutes i knew i would give up all the rests for this one. Has anyone tried this Timo 17g with the MG Prestige Mid at 54 lbs? It has everything that the Ripper mentioned above. So i am glad to say MG Prestige mid ends my quest.

Mine come in tomorrow, hope I like them as much as everyone here!

OH trust me you will love this stick.........

I AM IN LOVE WITH IT Although pj isnt to good looking....... the playability of the frame makes up for its bad looks.

its a sexy stick on the inside and a ugly mofo on the outside.

I've been debating between this one and the MP. I hear mixed stuff about both. For example, the review by TW seems to favor the MP but i hear more about the Mid than the MP from players. What exactly is better about this one?
I want to demo both but i'm already set on demoing 3 other racquets.
Thanks.

After having tried the MG Prestige Mid, I've mentioned in the Redondo thread that IF I can't find anymore Redondo mids, the MG-Pr mid would certainly be high on my list.

A nice stick. Really nice.

Mids are a thing of the past and it is time to move on.

Hey, we aren't clones ... and you've made a clown of yourself.

... try your jedi mind-trick on some other living matter ... like trees, may be.

Hey AZN TOMATO, what's your swing weight? I had to add lead tape to the MG Prestige MP to bring the racquet up to 12.4 oz, therefore after i tried the mid, i decide to stick with it. You know the MP strung weight is only 11.9 oz, so it's very easy for me to play all around court as well as volley and at net. Based on the heaviest racquet that you have played with, you can decide the mid or the MP. But of course the mid is a whole lot better than the MP. I like the words that Head uses in Tennis Magazine: Plow thru. Yeah, very solid to play with.
