Mid-atlantic singles challenge

Hey Guys. I challenged my friend @BallBag to a for fun singles match. It was a lot of fun and I think I am really rusty. I don't usually play a lot of singles or at all. But I think I should get back into it more so I am not just a doubles only player. If anyone else in the Mid-Atlantic want to play, let me know and we can set something up!

Quick highlights with a little bit of trash talk

Full match

I ended up winning 6-4 4-6 1-0 but it could have gone either way. I think we were both a little rusty as I noticed there were a lot of errors and double faults on both our parts!

I played @Ft.S today. The courts were super full and we had to wait for a court in order to play. This is an outdoor facility with 19 outdoor courts. I am assuming all the people stuck home inside because of Coronavirus are coming out to play tennis. It was a fun match. I tried to go out and be more relaxed in general but focus on trying to serve well. I did succeed in being a little bit more relaxed. Don't think I was serving any better then normal but I definitely was more consistent then my match against ballbag.

I ended up winning the match 6-1 6-1. What I noticed from the video is that once the point got started, I seemed to end up winning more of the rallies in the long run. However, I did notice that Ft.S was not making a lot of first serves in on average. But the games he held, he had a very high first serve percentage. I didn't count but the point conversation was very high if he got the first serve in. Otherwise it was a fun match.

Regardless of score, I also a lot of fun, thank you @dsp9753 .
There are so many things that can be said... I wish I had the nervous version of dsp yesterday, it might have given me a slightly better chance for a better score.
I wasn't nervous at all, and had a game plan before the match, but first four games I just could not connect with the ball at all, and by that time it was 0-4, which further relaxed dsp of course.

I caught a possible momentum change at 1-5 while dsp was serving and we played a game with a dozen deuces I think, and I think I had three or four break chances that I could not convert. That game was a lot of fun for sure. I continued the positive change in momentum second set, but at 1-1, while serving I lost my concentration completely and things went downhill again from that point onwards.

It is true that when I had my first serves in, I had high conversion rate. However, there is a little detail that is not apparent, at least from my perspective. Those first serves weren't about just getting them into the box or anywhere in the box, I had to target the lines and corners, and be unpredictable with those first serves to have the chance to win the point. Any serve that was not placed well and lacked better than average pace, the ball returned back with a punishing spin and very deep, putting me on the defensive immediately. When I was on the defensive, as dsp mentions, I could not sustain the rallies against him at all. So, I had to take chances and be as unpredictable as possible with my serves. Sustaining that the whole match proved difficult :)

Great playing dsp, and thank you for your time. I do want a rematch though :D

You need to setup a match with OSG. I'd be down to play one of the 4.0 guys once things calm down and prop up the singles ladder....I doubt I would give you much of a challenge.

I am afraid of OSG! I might end up retiring the match through exhaustion before we finish the match. But I would be happy to play anyone.
